Vintage Thingie Thursday

It's Thursday and time for Vintage Thingie Thursday again, I'd like to thank Suzanne for hosting this for us.. Visit Suzanne, Coloradolady to see more Vintage Thingies Thursday
First let me say my heart is breaking...sigh...we were not home when my bowls went off. I was still debating weather to bid or not when we left and just knew we'd be home before it went off...wrong...Guess it wasn't meant for me to have them.
Today, I've got a few more Hall's items to share, they are Westinghouse refrigerator bowls from the 50's.
The first one is a yellow bowl that didn't have the lid. I found it at a small booth on the longest yard sale somewhere near Kentucky-Ohio line. It was just sitting on a table with .75 cents on it. I just eased over and picked it up and gave the lady my money. Then finished looking at rest of stuff...well, I didn't want her to see how excited I was..lol

The second one I found in Harrison, Arkansas is the solid yellow one. and it cost I believe about $6.00 The third and my favorite one is the blue bowl with yellow lid. I found this one on EBay and paid &10.00 + shipping. I use these all the time, they are not for looks only.

This is what is stamped on both yellow bowls. I believe the one without a lid would have been a match to the other yellow set.

  10. I love those bowls too. I would use them every day too. Your son on your last post is so cute. I knopw you are proud of him and his wife. I have to tell you - our oldest son graduated in 1998 too, he and his wife (Brandon & Julie) have been married 2 years. You can see their wedding picture on my side bar or go to my other blog http://mominthewilderness.blogspot.com . We are always coming up with things in common.

  12. I think those refrigerator storage containers are the cat's meow! My mother had some, but not so pretty, they had ridged clear glass tops. I love the yellow and blue, what lovely shades. WISH you could have gotten those Hall's mixing bowls, maybe the next set you find on Ebay will be even less in price and you can grab them!!! I did have that happen with an item once -- got it for 1/2 of what the one I "missed" went for!!!

  14. I love the lids on those, so cute. 50's kitchen wear are just adorable aren't they? And when you can pick them up at less then a 1.00 it's thrill isn't it.

  17. Isn't it amazing how things that were made and used so long ago aren't broken and still work. I collect McCoy and I think that Hall is one of the pottery companies, like Brush=McCoy that made things to last. These refrigerator containers were USED every day and they are still in great shape. They really did make things better then.
    Nice post!
