Love on Wednesday

Colorado Lady is hosting Love on Wednesdays every week in February, this being the month of love and all that. Click on her link to see who else is sharin' the love.
Today I want to share my love for my little Chi-Chi with all my blogging friendsWe received Chi-Chi from a friend, when her little Frannie had been a bad girl and wound up with 9 of the cuties 1/2 Chihuahua and 1/2 Feist puppies. I just fell in love with her sweet little face and feisty ways. When she was 2 yrs old I was recupperating from total knee replacement and Dear Hubby let her out for a little while at 6:30. When she didn't come back in a few minutes we went looking and found her laying beside the road where she had been hit by a car. She knew she wasn't allowed to go to the road, but she would slip across it ever chance she got...she had a little buddy over there.
I was so upset, We called the Vet and he met us at his office. When he saw her tiny little body swelled double in size and that she was in shock..it turned out, her back was broken and he didn't give us much hope. I was crying so hard, that he said he would try everything he could, he kept her for 4 days and then sent her home. He told me I could do as much for her at home as he could at the Clinic, he really didn't think she would live....she couldn't move and had to be carried around on a pillow, I had to watch her close because if her kidneys didn't work, it meant she had damaged them and would have to be put to sleep. Well, she set in my lap for 4 weeks....me in a leg case, her with a broken back and hips. She fought hard and she survived. The Vet was totally awed at her recovery and how feisty she was in less that 2 months. She still walks a little sideways, but she has lived 8 years. The cold weather really gets to her and she can't run and jump too much. But she is my love and I am so glad she lived. She is spoiled rotten...and proned to pouting if she doesn't get her way...BTW, she doesn't go back to the road anymore and sits on the porch and barks at me when I go to the mail box, like she's saying don't go down there, it's not safe, y'all be sorryyyyyy....

  2. Oh, I cried all through your story, even when I knew she had made it. What a terrible shocking thing that she got hit (your poor hubby, I bet it shook him up bad to find her) and how wonderful that you pulled her through. She is surely an extremely special and precious girl. May she have 8 years more and beyond.

  3. What a sweetie dog you have there! I have two myself and I don't know what I'd do without them...they're just like family to me! So glad to know that Chi-Chi pulled through and is a survivor!

  10. Hi Molly,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yeas we live in the tiny village of Bellefontaine, just north of Eupora, MS. I see you your Chi Chi and she looks like my Poochie dog we used to have. Poochie got shot in his front leg and I had to nurse him back to health. I like your blog and will be back to see you.
Your painting is beautiful!! I used to try to do a little oil painting.
