I love to watch the birds feed at my bird feeder, but usually when I try to take a good picture (which I can't do through my windows because DH put the feeders too far from the windows), I have to try to ease out my door and get close enough to get a good picture, the blue birds and Redbirds fly away they are very leary of people.
But today DH and I were out side blowing the leaves, so the birds and squirrels could find acorns. I had my camera of course. When I saw these little fellows eating, so I kept easing up and they didn't run at first, the closer I got the more flew away except one little guy...keep an eye on the little yellow breasted feller...he's sticking his head out from the back side, he hid a lot....

YOU CAN CLICK ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE AND GET BETTER LOOK.
He's still just peeping out, the little brown one looked like he was scolding him..and he was making a terrible noise while doing it...
The other finally flew away cause I was getting so close, but he looks like he is trying to hide.... He looks like he is saying....ok, leave me alone
OK, I'll just move to the other side..
I'm watching you, your getting toooo close. I'm leaving now, I'm going to my home...stop following me...NOW
This is a beautiful little fellow, I'm not to up on the different kinds of birds, could someone tell me what kind he is?
Aren't they fun to watch? You got some good pics of em'. Sorry I can't help with identity.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a gold finch to me! Ours are brown right now - they change in winter, and will be yellow in spring again. One photo you have looks like he is as angry as all get out - he is scowling!!! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI thought they were yellow finches. Monica is probably right - gold.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want someone taking a picture of me eating - but then again - I'm not a beautiful bird out in the cold.
I did a Show and Tail, but put it for midnight - I'm going to go change the time!
You are so patient taking these lovely photos. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for visiting.
What great pictures, Molly ... and a sweet story to go with them. Your patience certainly paid off. You captured him perfectly in that last photo.
ReplyDeleteI think he's a gold or yellow finch, too.
Goldfinches are some of my all time favorites.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures! We have those birds here, they are a Finch of some kind. Not too sure of their name either. Have a great day!

Great pictures. I don't know what kind they are either.
ReplyDeleteMolly, thanks for stopping by and visiting. Your bird is an American Goldfinch. A little later towards Spring they will be brilliant yellow and are just eye-popping gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour photos should be in a lawn and garden magazine, they are so beautiful! And your bird houses are also cute!
ReplyDeleteHey Molly!
ReplyDeleteI've always called them a yellow goldfinch. Like Monica said, they are brown here where I live right now but they will turn a bright yellow in the Spring like Dorothy said! That is one sure sign that Spring is right around the corner when you start seeing those little guys all bright yellow again! He sure did keep his eye on you! lol
You sure did get some great pictures! I would take them and get them enlarged and frame them and hang them on the wall! Second thought, you could probably paint them too!
Thanks for sharing such great pictures of your birds with us this week!
Tuesdays' Show & Tail!

GREAT pictures!!!!!! What would we do without our cameras? Bird pictures are always my favs - have you ever seen Birds & Blooms magazine? Love it! Have a great day ~ ♥
ReplyDeleteHi Molly
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in and commenting-
The yellow bird is a gold finch and the brown ones are house finches. I'm a back yard birder too.
Hope to see you again. :D
What great pictures you got! I need a bird feeder! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you did to get such beautiful pictures! Our camera doesn't take very good pics... it's a cheap little vid cam and they aren't very clear like yours. I can't seem to get close enough to take decent pics very often either. We have had a set of Red Tailed Hawks around lately that I'd love to get a good shot of. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful little bird with us! Linda
