Rissa and I went to the GW this morning and found several great items..
I found 3 items Monday, since they are all over 40 yrs old I will show them as my new vintage items. The first item is an enamel water pitcher from the 40's-50's. Maybe even earlier, It is white with a black trim around the top... I remember seeing these used in the Hospital back in the 50's. The pitcher was only 5.00 and I thought it was a bargain.
This White enamel tray was also a utensil holder used in the 40's and 50's in the operating room I will use it to hold the pitcher and other items. I got this for 6.00 Next is a vintage Hall's GE Refrigerator dish...the lady had it labeled as a old butter dish, my heart just skipped a beat when I saw it...it was marked $2.00...I gingerly took it to the counter and paid for it, holding my breath that no one would see it and say, "oh, wait that's a mistake it more than that"...lol...I placed it with my other Hall's refrigerator bowls...it has a small crack on the side but since it's for looks I didn't mind, just showed that it was well loved and used.
Next today we went to the GW store and everything was 1/2 price, I found a beautiful pair...(Rissa says they are ugly) of pillowcases that have been handmade even the case, and a different embroidery pattern on it. It was marked $10.00 so I only paid 5.00...the pictures just don't do them justice. they are done in Browns and yellows, looks like the colors of the 70's. And around the edge is a pretty trim of white lace.
I found a couple of more vintage items, but I am saving them for later post.

All beautiful finds, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those hand embroidered pillow cases! I just have a soft spot for hand work. They are simply gorgeous! Of course, I am a child of the 70's so maybe that explains it! I married in 1975 and would have loved those pillow cases on my bed! Great finds Molly! Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteMany hugs..............
Diane

ReplyDeleteMolly~~thanks so much for sharing your vintage things today with us!! I think the pillowcases are pretty, but then I am partial to any needle/crochet work~~lol! The white enamelware looks great, too!

The enamel pitcher and tray are amazing...they are in extra perfect condition! Great pillowcases and yes, I agree- they definitely look 1970ish!
ReplyDeleteHope DH feels better soon.
Now, I am just going to have to look for an enamel pitcher to go with all my other enamel pieces...
ReplyDeleteI hope your husband gets to feeling better soon. If he has frequent sinus trouble, he needs to get a neti pot. If you are not familiar with them, do a google search. I typically have sinus problems, but not since using my neti pot. It is wonderful. You can get them at WalGreens or CVS.
Great finds here! I was born in 1957; now I realize just how old I am!
