But for some reason he felt better today and wanted to take a ride and check out the Dove fields at the Hennerberry Game Preserve and wanted to know if I'd like to ride with him..well, now you ladies know I never turn down a change to travel even if it just 35 miles from home. I also asked if we could go by the Barlow Community & maybe stop at the Cemetery that is close to there, it is the community where my Daddy's family came from.
It was a pleasant day a little warm but the wind was blowing and made the trip comfortable.
I of course had my camera on hand and here are some of the pictures I snapped.
I just love a beautiful 2 lane country road..it just gives you a peaceful easy feeling...
and old service station, we used to see these all over the place back in the 50s and 60s, but not so much anymore.
Don't see many 76 signs either any more...
now this is a common sight in MS this time of year, pecan tree worms, in a few weeks that nest will be crawling with little worms...a very large and old Cedar tree in front of an old deserted house..
a true Mississippi horse fly and man was this thing big, he had to be the granddaddy of them all...
These were some beautiful grasses on the side of the road, I think there had to have been an old home place here at one time...
and these plants and butterflies were everywhere...
small road down to the dove fields...
one of the fields ready for the hunt...another field...
DH checking the fields out....
This is what I call God's Country
more grasses and weeds and butterflies look close and you can find the butterfly in this picture...
The butterflies were everywhere in this picture...this is one of my favorites
The road home...
Since this post has turned into a long one I will save the Cemetery visit until another time. I am headed to bed and want to wish you all a good night. I am one sleepy lady, but I did enjoy myself, hope to travel more now that it is getting cooler.

ReplyDeleteGlad you and hubby were able to get out and enjoy the day!
Gorgeous pictures, Molly. I love the yellow butterfly on the pink thistle, too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your day was filled with lagniappe, and it just doesn't get any better than that!
