Pink Saturday and Scenic Sunday....The Bontura ....

I am connecting to Pink Sat... with Beverly at How Sweet The Sound because of all the beautiful shades of pink in the brick and the flowers, I am also connecting to
Scenic Sunday is a photo meme of the scenery. It can be landscapes, buildings, flowers, or anything you feel it's a scenery photo. This meme will be held every weekend. To join, just post your scenery shots on your blog and link back to Scenic Sunday.
I hope you will enjoy my little trip back in time.

Natchez, MS and the Bontura House
One of my favorite homes to visit when I go to Natchez is the Bontura, c1851 built by Robert D. Smith, a free African-American who ran a carriage service. Later it became an inn run by Portuguese merchant Jose Bontura. Built in the Greek Revival style. It sits on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, It has unique iron work and I always try to go by during different Seasons to capture the ever changing landscape...Because of it's location on the Bluffs it was shelled by Union gunboats in the Civil War. It is now privately owned, I would love to go inside and see what it looks like.I did find a place on the net that showed more info about this beautiful house...You can read about it here

This sets right across the street from the Bontura House...What a beautiful sight to see every morning from your parlor windows.
Bontura also shares the neighborhood with several other Great old homes..I will be showing them later.

I too would love to see that house on the inside! I can only imagine all of the intricate woodwork and trim that would be in it. It truly is beautiful on the outside!
