2d time around Tuesday,

It is time for 2nd Time Around Tuesday, hosted by Diane @ A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words. be sure to drop by Daine's blog and check out the other 2d time around items.........
Last Thurs DH and I woke up and surprise, surprise we both woke up feeling good, now around my house that is very unusual especially in the winter or raining seasons. DH suffers from chronic Sinus infections and asthma. So we decided to celebrate by heading down south to Louisiana to one of our favorite junkin' spots. It has been several years since we had been there and thought it would be a nice little day trip. We took our time and enjoyed the day, instead of taking the interstate we took the back roads. Oh, sorry forgot to say we were headed to Ponchatoula, LA Strawberry Capital of the World....
The sun was shining bright,
We stopped in Hammond and ate lunch, then headed on into town...Most of these pictures were taken from the car,
And this was our final destination...boy it had grown since last time we were there, see the big building with the white roof, well that has been added, it was like a maze inside, it was 3 times larger than be for. I spent several hours just looking around....
We were headed out of town when this came racing by, just had to take a picture,
I found a "few" things I liked, but most of the prices said they liked them too, lol..I did find a couple or 3 nice things that had to come home with me...
Isn't this the cutest little tea strainer you ever saw. The pot was missing but I really liked this part, so for $2.50 I brought it home...maybe some day I'll find the pot, if not I'll just enjoy looking at it and using it with one of the many pots I already have...
This was just a tall tea pot with no lid, so for 4.00, I thought it would make a nice vase for fresh cut flowers. I loved the steel gray color and the crackle effect on it...the crackle doesn't show up good in the picture but it is beautiful.
And we all know my heart stopped when I found this little beauty..and for only $8.50
it had to come home with me. The bottom reads The Enterprise Aluminum Co. Massillon, Ohio Superior Quality Kitchen Ware, Drip O Lator...since I already have 6 of these in different patterns, what harm could it do to own 1 more.
Now I bet you are wondering, what in the world  could be in this torn up, ratty red box...I'm here to tell you it is one of my better finds of the day...let's open the box and see...
ok, the lid says, EALES-1779..hummm ok, wow, look a set of very tarnished silver plated steak knives...
But they cleaned up pretty nice, didn't they? And for only 12.00, not a bad bargain I'd say...
Ok, now we are headed out of town when I spy a little stand on the corner, no picture of it..DH wouldn't give me time before he whipped in the parking lot and jumped out, when he got back in, he had the best buy of the day....a flat of fresh, just picked that morning LA. Strawberries...we have really enjoyed them, I have used them as my fruit in my cereal every morning and he of course has had strawberry short cake every night...rats...what a time to be on a diet.....

Now just a few extra pictures I snapped as we flew by on the way home..He wasn't as relaxed going home as he was going down....I will be going to the Natchez Spring Pilgrimage tomorrow and My Sis is going with me...so I will get some good pictures...she KNOWS better than to rush me, I'll leave her over there...lol..just joking, but she enjoys taking her time like I do, DH had getting back to McComb before the Market closed to get him some Oysters, on his mind and wasn't stopping anywhere.

Hope y'all have a beautiful and Blessed day.

  2. Good Morning Molly Sweetie...
Oh how I adore this beautiful quaint town. It looks just like something out of the movies. I would spend hours here just running around clicking pictures. I loved the ones you shared. It shows this town has such character, and still a wonderful pride in how it looks. I love it. Thank you so much for taking me along with you and DH on your journey today.

Those strawberries, I think I would have bought 2 flats for my house. We love them and go through them so fast around here. They look yummy for sure.

How is Levi doing? Has he perked back up and hopefully he is staying around home now? Love will find a way to come home won't it?

Have a beautiful day sweetie. Can't wait to see the pictures of you and DS trip out. Have a great time together.

Country hugs and much love, Sherry

  4. I loved seeing Ponchatoula through your lens, Molly. It's one of my favorite places to browse. We used to love to go to the German pastry shop there ... their "sticky buns" are absolutely wonderful. Of course, the strawberries aren't bad either ... lol

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
