Today I am joining Tuesday Show and Tail over at West Virgina Treasures, be sure and click on the link and check out all the other great animal pictures.
This week I'd like to introduce you to Oliver our late Pot Bellied Pig. We got him in 1993 and we lost him to a form of cancer in 1995.... He was such a little darling, I think he actually thought he was a cat or maybe a dog. He had to have a litter box to poop in at night and let me tell you, you better empty it immediately or he would take his snot and try to dump it out. He would go to the back door during the day and scratch to get out. Pot Bellies are actually neater and cleaner to keep than a dog or cat. Oliver was potty trained time he was born, no kidding we never had to train him, He eventually got to big for the house and the last 6 mos. he was confined to a large pen and was very happy cause he got to rut up the ground, when we'd try to bring him in he's run back to the pen....
He loved playing with Keifer and BB just like a puppy would.....
He loved playing with his blankie...
He loved to play and by now he was too big to sleep in the bed. He loved to play at night....
He loved his little white stuffed kitty cat with a bell on it's collar. And that is what he usually slept on, I would wake up at night and hear that little bell tinkling, I'd look down the hall to the den where Ollie slept and he would have the cat in his mouth, he would shake it and then throw it across the room, then he'd run to it, pick it up and shake it like a dog would and threw it back to the other side of the room, he would play like this for hours,..lol...then he'd sleep all day.
He was so tiny when we got him, that he would sleep on a pillow in bed with Baby Boy.
Of course this is me laying beside him, lol..I looked a mess had just got home from work, and took a shower no make up and wet head...but he didn't care, he loved his Momma and would squeal until I rubbed his back
and then he's go to sleep. He was so bad. I had some pictures of him and baby boy sleeping but haven't located then yet. We sure miss Oliver he was so sweet and loved to cuddle like a dog.
Hey Molly!
ReplyDeleteOliver sure was a cute little piggly wiggly! I have never been around a pig other than one at the fair or seeing one along the side of the road. I can't imagine seeing him playing with that stuffed animal like that. I'm sure he was a lot of fun to have around. Sorry he didn't live a very long life.
Thanks for joining in again this week!
Tuesdays' Show & Tail!

I know that folks love these little guys...who grow up to be big ol' guys. Me, I'm stuck on corgis.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Oliver with us.
I have 2 precious pot belly pigs and love them to pieces. We are blessed to have had Hamlet 8 years and YamYam 7.
ReplyDeleteGlad you joined us this week - Olivers pictures are just adorable! My son had a pot belly pig, but it got a little large - 50 lbs - eating regular pig feed (they didn't sell the pot belly pellets near us). We sure loved that little guy - he was just as smart, if not smarter, than any dog we ever had! Thanks for sharing your story!
ReplyDeleteOliver sure looked like a sweetie! I've thought about getting a pot-bellied pig, but I think the 6 corgis keep me busy enough! LOL
ReplyDeleteI did research them as a pet though, because there are some (HBO words) people that live about 3 miles from us that have several that they've let go wild, and breed indiscriminately. They bother people in that little town and are often on the highway and getting hit by cars. I thought seriously about taking in some sort of as a rescue... training/gentling them and finding homes for them. I don't know how you'd go about catching the little suckers though, cause they are totally WILD!
Oliver does sound just like a pup!! I think pigs are becoming popular pets nowadays aren't they?? Seriously, if I lived somewhere besides a neighborhood I'd want one!! How CUTE is that??? What a great post ~ ♥
ReplyDeleteFew realize how intelligent swine are. I recall quite a few LSU vet students getting into a legal battle because they could not bear to kill and autopsy the pigs they had raised and used in exercise experiments. They were too attached to them. And these were just regular swine, not even the pot-bellies!
ReplyDeleteRIP Oliver.
So cute! I have always wanted a little pot bellied pig I could spoil!! But our dogs right now wouldn’t allow that, who knows though, maybe with my luck one will come to the doorstep and fit right in lol! Sorry he was taken too soon!
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered about pot-bellied pigs. They sounds just like an adorable puppy dog, but less demanding. What darling pictures, and he was so tiny!!! Sounds like you miss him ((((((hugs))))))))
ReplyDeleteAwwwww, how cute. I want a litle pig, but mean ol hubby keeps saying "bacon, bacon, bacon". So nevermind!
