It's Vintage Thingie Thursday over at Colorado Lady's place...don't forget to go by and tell Suzanne how much you appreciate her sponsoring it for us...
Thrifty Thursday takes place each Thursday and is hosted by Leigh at Tales from Bloggeritaville,
Today I have several items that I bought last week when Sis and I went junkin' I not only looked for usable items, but also older items to paint on, I love painting on old coffee pots and rolling pins, not sure if I am going to paint on these rolling pins because they are really old and I'd hate to take away the valve of them, I got both of these for less than $6.00, which is very unusual since I usually find them priced at $5.00 and over each.
The little one was cracked all the way down it.
But wouldn't these look neat in an old crock or large crock pitcher.
Next I found 2 coffee pots. One had the lid but was missing the guts, and the other had the basket but was missing the lid. I love to paint these and use them as spooners or utensil holder
This one would make a great spooner just as is...add some rice or dried beans to the bottom section to keep it from being top heavy and use the deep basket for the silverware
I can see red and white in this pots future....maybe a little yellow and an egg or 2..we shall see.
This last item is one I found several years ago when DH and I went to Hammond, LA. junkin' I thought it was the neatest bronze candle holder I'd ever seen. You can see in the picture it still has some of the red candle someone had burned in it. I loved the patina and have never cleaned it...isn't it so cute, I can see it in a plantation home or in a Cajun home along the Bayou...someone's pride and joy....can't you just see the flames dancing in this forming all kinds of patterns on the wall.Hope you enjoyed these little treasures I found and keep an eye out for some of them being transformed to a new life...
That little brass lamp is the cutest! I bet it's pretty lit up.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds all!
Such pretty treasures, if they could talk I bet they would have some incredible stories!
ReplyDeleteYou are so imaginative & creative, can't wait to see these transformed
ReplyDeleteI love the brass candle holder, Molly. It's so unique and will look so pretty tucked in a corner somewhere ... or maybe even on a kitchen counter.
ReplyDeleteMolly,
ReplyDeleteYou have the best eye for seeing possibilities in everything---and I can tell it extends to people, as well.
Your talent and imagination are amazing---be sure to post the "afters" for your new finds.
I have a whole bunch of those little coffee pots too. I don't know why, I don't paint them. They just sit on a shelf.
ReplyDeleteYou have one thing I don't have - vision and talent - oh wait a minute - that's two! Love you, sandie

Imagine all the pie and cookies rolled out with the rolling pins. I do so love vintage things with their history.. Happy VTT, have a wonderful weekend.
A p.s. I've just become a follower of your pretty blog. Can't wait so come back and see some of your painting..and will be waiting to see what you do with your latest vintage finds.

That is such a nifty candle holder! I've never seen one like that, where you can lower the shade. Love those old red handled rolling pins too. One more, and you've got a collection! Might as well paint on that cracked one!

LOVE the red handles on those rolling pins. My mom's had red handles.
ReplyDeleteWe own a coffee pot just like that - - - it's in our camper and we use it over a fire, when we use it at all.
You found some great items. I like the idea of using the coffee pot as a spooner. That's a perfect idea.
ReplyDeleteJane
Can't wait to see what you paint on the pots...and the pins if you decide to paint on them...
ReplyDeleteThat brass candle lamp is just so pretty. Would add such a touch of cheer at night.
i love rolling pins too and guess what i've got a similar coffee pot..how funny!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun thrift store finds! My Grandparents use to have a coffee percolator just like that. the little basket would fit right in and it would be filled with water and put o the stove to make the coffee. As a little girl I always thought of it as a sort of puzzle. I would help dry dishes and then put the coffee pot puzzle together. :-)
ReplyDeletelove the rolling pins, I have a few of them myself, love the wooden ones. sorry I am so late, I want to throw my computer in the street.....Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteLots of fun finds! I can't wait to see what you do with them!
