I haven't done much in art work this week, had a problem with computer Monday and Tues. and spent the rest of the week getting my photos organized and copied to CDs. Also deleted a lot of old files and junk I don't need any more. So today I'm going to show you my redo of my kitchen table...I redid this about 10 yrs ago when we remodeled the kitchen, I didn't want to buy a new table and chairs, but this one was in pretty bad shape since it was over 30 yrs old. I think I paid $99.00 for the set in 1969, after I painted it I had a lady offer me $300.00 for it...lol..no thank you, it's mine...
It started of in a dark wood finish, so I painted the whole thing white. I painted the top and my corner cabinet to match..also painted the fuse box to match, when the house was built the fuse box was stuck right in the middle of my kitchen wall, so I decided to cover it up, when we moved in I'd covered it with a picture but that didn't look right.. Can you tell which spot is mine...lol...the old gray Mare end....
My hubby built the corner cabinet when we moved in the house in 1971, it was stained a dark oak. When we remodeled in 2001, he wanted to throw it away, but I just didn't want to part with it. I think the remake turned out good, What you think?
Molly,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun table! I love the little signs on each animal. See, I could never paint like you do, you have such a talent. I so enjoy seeing your work each week!

Lovely art work - and I could never toss out that cabinet - it is adorable! Nice job! Love the chickens....!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you are showing your precious and whimsical art work on Art Work Friday. My grandchildren would have a hard time trying to decide which place they would like to sit at the table. Each one is soooo adorable!

Good Golly Miss Molly, you sure know how to paint! Everything from the table to the fuse box to your hutch is adorable. I can't believe she only offered you $300, you could make a fortune with these. The country look is so big, I see it everywhere, but I've never seen a table as cute as this. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteI think the redo came out GREAT!!! What a sweet corner cabinet, I can't believe the man wanted to throw it out!!!
ReplyDeleteBY THE WAY, I'd like to say here that my giveaway prize came and MOLLY, you got to get a new camera, because it is TEN TIMES AS BEAUTIFUL in person than even in the photo...your work is INCREDIBLE...now I'm saving up to get the perfect frame for it, because the frame has got to be as classy as the painting itself...LOVE IT...
Everything is so cute. Love them!
ReplyDeleteMolly, Your kitchen is so charming. I really like the animals on the table with their signs. Your whimsical characters would be adorable as a larger mural in a child's room. I love them!
ReplyDeleteHi I am a new follower ........I love your kitchen...Your table is awesome and even better you did it yourself. We had the same problem with the fuse box and I covered it with a large picture......but I like your idea better...just can't do it myself. Love the cabnit too!!
