Today my get R Done project involves my DH...we have a very large canning pear tree in out back yard
It is loaded with sweet pears that DH loves to eat in the winter when they are canned
So this morning he did his part by picking a 5 gallon bucket full for me to make pear relish for this winter, to eat with his home made biscuits
His little buddy is watching him, too bad he can't help pick them up.
notice how he pretents he's not looking...lol..he saw me with the camera and had to pose...spoiled Levi...lol...
Well now that DH had got his project done, I guess I'll have to do mine tomorrow..stay tuned for how to make pear relish...coming soon.
Pear Relish? I will have to see what the ingredients are for THAT recipe! I have never heard of it before! Might be good....
ReplyDeleteMolly, Anxious to hear about pear relish...I have never canned anything, so I want to hear how to do it.
ReplyDeleteDon't work too hard. Happy weekend.

Molly,
ReplyDeleteI hope you get lots accomplished! I love the picture of the dog "supervising"! So cute!
We just missed your family that was in Mountain View by a couple of weeks! It was Joy's first time to go since she was pretty little. We used to go more often when Colt was smaller.
Have a great weekend!
Tammy
Mmm Mmm Mmm .... pears! Love 'em! We used to live in a house that was near an old pear orchard. Only three trees left. We pruned them in to shape and revitalized them for some of the LARGEST and BEST bartletts EVER. We had so many that any type of scab or misshappen fruit went into the compost pile. Lots of drunken yellow jackets when the sun was out to ferment the fruit in the pile. Haven't thought of that in years! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane ...
ReplyDeleteHugs :)
Betty :)
You are going to be busy!
ReplyDeleteWe have 2 huge pear trees but ours are never ready until late September to mid October. They are late bloomers I guess.
Do you have to spray your trees? Just wondering.
You must explain what this pear relish is....is it savory, sweet or spicy? On biscuits, yeah yeah...got that...but what does it taste like?
ReplyDeleteCan't wait. I've never had pear relish.
ReplyDeleteI love pears. Our dogs eat them like crazy. They only like home-grown or those very expensive "Harry and David" pears, tho...won't eat a grocery-store pear...guess I ought to learn how to make the relish for them!!! And I'll "help" them eat it myself, too!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! that's a bucket load of pears! What a wonderful hubby! And cute photo of Levi!
ReplyDeleteI have a FAB award that I'd like to give you...please come and see... and let me know that you were there.
I truly mean everything I said about you!
Blessings & Aloha!
Your poor hubby hard at work. Those pears will taste great once the cold dreary winter comes. Can't wait to see your post on the pear relish.
