It's time again for Sunday Favorite Re-runs, a new Meme hosted by Chari over @ happytodesign http://happytodesign.blogspot.com/ It is so much fun to go back and re-run some of my favorite post.
This is a post that I did back on Monday March 23, 2009
Today I decided I wasn't going to sit around and just think about deep cleaning my kitchen. What the heck, it don't look like I'm going to see the Dr anytime soon and life goes on. I'm tired and hurt wheather I work or sit, so I decided to work. If I'm going to hurt at least I'll have a reason, no just washing dishes and sweeping today. I started off, taking everything off my counters and loaded the dish washer, then I went to work. I scrubbed counters, and cabinets, back splash, all the appliances, washed windows and sorted through my nit-nats and stored some...lol..making room for new ones. Then I washed all of the stuff sitting out and polished the china cabinet. Last I scrubbed the kitchen floor good and when it dried I added a nice coat of wax...it feels so good and smells fantastic...of course I won't be able to get out of bed in the morning, but if I can look out living room and den...your next...while I was waiting for the floor to dry the first time, I decided to paint a couple of items to kinda up date my kitchen. I painted the grease can and the knife block to match my match box holder sitting on back of my stove.

This is a corner cabinet DH built for me 36 years ago. It was made of oak and stained, but when we remodel I painted it to match my table and painted a big hen on the bottom doors. He also made the little stool for Lance 28 yrs ago. I will never repaint it...He loved Donald Duck. He would store his little toys in the compartment under the seat. This is a post that I did back on Monday March 23, 2009

Molly, you are so very talented!!! I love LOVE what you've done!!! I pray the pain goes away soon sweet Molly!!!
ReplyDeleteLove how you painted them, but here's my question: How many people besides you and me even know what a GREASE CAN was?!? We're talking about a GREASE CAN in the KITCHEN!!!!
ReplyDeleteOne more thing - - - grease cans were very GREEN in a time when we didn't even know what being green was, unless you were a plant or a frog!!!
ReplyDeleteYour home, shows so much heart, and love.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place for you all to come home to! How did you become such a dear, dear person?
You did all that while waiting for the floor to dry!? Amazing! You need to rename the "grease" jar because it's too pretty to be called that now.
ReplyDeleteLove the painting on your tiles. I think I must have missed this one the first time around.
ReplyDeleteWow! You did a wonderful job with the painting. I need to do something like this to spruce up my kitchen. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYou are a talented lady. I love the roosters.
ReplyDeletegood re-run ...I like the idea of your just deciding to paint it up while the floor was drying :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful kitchen!
Hi Molly...
ReplyDeleteMy friend, I'm so glad that you joined in with the fun of Sunday Favorites again this week!!!
Ohhh...I just love this post! I never seen it the first time around! Girl, for hurting and feeling so bad, you sure did get some work done in your kitchen! I hope that since you posted this (the first time) that you're feeling much better!!! I have fibromyalgia and have learned that I just need to "push through" if I'm to get anything done. But sometimes I really pay a price and it takes me days to recuperate!
Ohhh my...what a talented lady you are! My friend, you CAN PAINT!!! I just adore that pretty little rooster that you painted on your grease can and knife block! It's just so funny...just a few days ago my husband brought an old set of those little aluminum canisters. He found them out in his mom and dad's camper. They are pretty beat up...have seen there better days but I just had to keep them...stuck them away in the cabinet not really knowing what I would do with them! Soooo...now I know!!! I will give them new life with a coat of paint and a pretty picture!!! Thank you so much for the great idea!!! I sure enjoyed looking at all of your pretties. I just love that little step stool that you painted for your son! Ohhh nooo...you could never paint over that...it's a memory keeper, my friend!!!
Have a great week!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
