I'm joining Simple pleasures again over at A Collection of this and that...Click here to join or check us out.
To me simple pleasures are capturing images on my camera, images of a time gone by or a time slowing fading away. As I travel south on I-55 From Brookhaven to McComb I always pass this old abandoned home, it has been there for as long as I can remember, it sets very close to the interstate and has a fence around it to keep folks from the highway from tresspassing. I have long been attracted to the way they repaired it as it slowly started decaying, notice the big metal advertising signs...I know that at one time it had to be someone's home, a time before the interstate came through and pushed it's family out. Notice the curtains still in the windows.
Tues when I went to the Dr I finally pulled over ( not a smart thing to do on the interstate ) and took a few pictures. It was such a dreary day and everything was so drab that in the last picture I was surprised to see the red berries making the picture all pretty and bright...Hope all your little pleasures are simple ones..
Your photos are so pertty. I grew up in the country . The older I get the more I think about it . Your photos remind me of home.
ReplyDeleteThey gave me pleasure,too.

I love photos of old homes and barns. The rusty tin and the weathered timber have a beauty all of their own! I enjoyed seeing these photos :-)
ReplyDeletebless you..Trish
Photography surely is a simple pleasure. It's good to be able to stop and spend some time taking photos, well done with yours.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures, Molly. It's good that we can capture old houses and buildings like that one in pictures before they completely fade away.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely take on a home that everyone just passes by. You stopped to honor it on your post. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's a neat piece of history....
ReplyDeleteLuv the pictures.
This is just beautiful! Since I live in the country, I enjoy these kind of scenery everyday!

How wonderful that you participate in the 365 project. I did the everyday one last year, however i had to make some changes to my life and one of them was to do the project once a week. Lovely old home. I too get tremendous simple pleasure out of my camera. Just last week I did a thankful post about it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and very nice to meet you.

Molly, so glad I found you! I too am a MS girl, but sounds like I'm over where the sun rises from you. :) I have just found my love for photography too and am learning. Enjoyed looking at the old homeplace. Can't help but wonder who's story was written there. Thanks for taking the chance to snap the pictures. Stop by and visit with me, I'm joining you over at Dayle's today. I've been busy with other things lately and have not linked up in awhile.
ReplyDeleteYou are a girl after my own heart. I love to drive and find the unexpected pleasures to photograph, and this one would have spoken to me too. I LOVE old houses. I like to imagine the story they could tell. The windows with the tie back curtains made a particularly pretty picture.
ReplyDeletebeautiful photography. I love the way the cows are grazing so close
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful post. Not only do I adore that house, but I know exactly where it is. My parents lived in McComb from 1985-1998. We traveled there often.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs capture the untold story so well.
Great photos! I love old barns and houses. Those red berries really do pop in that last picture. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteHi Molly-
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. I get the feeling that someone is looking out the window on a couple of these. I guess the way the curtains are swagged back.
I enjoyed your simple pleasures. sandie
ReplyDeleteMolly I love the pics you've taken of that abandoned house. We have a similar one which you can see easily off the main road into Shrewsbury. It's been boarded up for as long as I can remember. It's a lovely little old fashioned brick built house with a little cow shed to the side of it - all boarded up. It does make you wonder about the people who lived there and it makes you feel a bit sad in a way that it's no more! I hope you are feeling better every day. Take care. Love from the other Molly xx
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the photographer, such simple images evoke strong emotions. My granddaughter is working on her degree in photography. I am going to direct her to your site.

I love the pictures! Sometimes, it's nice to not know the full story -- to make one up in my own little head. To give it a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots - old buildings like this are awesome. I love both simple pleasures like a walk in the country or a dog on my lap, as well as complex pleasures like symphonies and concerts.
ReplyDeleteThose are some really great pictures Molly! I'm glad that you took them before they tore it down or something. I wish I had taken a few pictures of a grand old house near my house that they tore down. There was also another old abandoned house that was falling down that someone set fire to that I wish I had gotten a picture of. I say now when there is a photo opportunity you should take it because it might not be there later!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Angela
ps Hope you are feeling better!
