Good Morning bloggersville, hope this will be a beautiful day for all. Last week when I went to see Rissa's Gym meet I got to meet the newest addition to their family. Omar... Now keep in mind that they already have 2 CATS and a dog....Bella and Callie are very interested in Omar and I must say they do make him a little nervous....I didn't get any pictures of them around him, cause they aren't allowed in the room with him right now.
He is just beautiful and is quite noisy at times...he just loves to whistle...Every time my DIL walks into the room he starts whistling at her.
My DIL and Rissa work(volunteer) for Pet Smart Adoption program. Well, it's actually the Animal Rescue League in their area, but Pet Smart lets them use their building. They will go to the store and set up booths to help raise money to buy food for the center and offer pets for adoption, most are free to good homes ( these are pets people no longer want and they have shots already) and some they sale for just what it cost the shelter to fix them, give them shots and vaccinations.(these are strays that are turned in or picked up off the streets)
Moving on, 2 Sat's ago they went and maned the booth in front of Pet Smart to ask for donations and Rissa collected $88.00 by herself in just 2 hrs, she was so proud....it's hard to tell those big brown eyes no, when she is looking up at you...lol..just ask her Daddy.

Well sometimes the week before a lady had brought Omar into the shelter, she had had him 14 yrs and just woke up one morning and decided she was tired of messing with him and she was single, retired and wanted to travel so Omar had to go.
Rissa fell in love and asked her Mom if she could have him, the lady who runs the shelter, told her, she could have him for free with cage and everything cause she was such a good worker. Usually a pet like that, the shelter would ask at least $50 to help with food, but since Rissa was their biggest fund raiser they figured she'd paid for him...So next obstacle to getting him was Daddy..the big push over...lol..Rissa blinked them big browns at him and Omar had a new home.
He loves his sunflower seeds and will start shaking is tail feathers, swooping them back and forth and whistling when he sees you with the bag, he's so funny they are hoping to teach him to say a word or 2 one day.
Happy Tuesday everyone hope your day is good and bright.
I'm glad he got a very good home!

ReplyDeleteHey Molly!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Omar has found the perfect home for him! He is beautiful! That is hard to believe that an old lady would give him up like that. Sounds like Rissa has her daddy wrapped around her big brown eyes!
Thanks for sharing about Omar this week!

What a neat bird! It's a different color than the one's I'm used to seeing! Those are very smart birds, too, I understand. COOL!
