The Simple Woman's Day Book

To view more Simple Woman's Day Books click hereFOR TODAY
Outside my window...it is still dark, and it is cold, a typical MS Oct. morning….

I am thinking ..what a full week I am going to have this week , I sure miss my boys being little and dressing up and going Trick or Treating, times has changed so much since then.

I am thankful …..for all of the wonderful gifts God has given me, I am thankful that Ronnie was able to attend Mass yesterday, just 5 days after surgery, that Kryk got to go home from Hospital…he is still on bed rest with oxygen, but the clot is dissolving.

From the kitchen...for breakfast it’s hot coffee, smoked pork chops and biscuits
Supper will be hummmm, I’m thinking a big pot of home made chili would go perfect with our cold weather, add a few Fritos and cheese on top…with a big glass of milk…..sounds like a winner to me.

I am wearing…pink flannel night gown…haven‘t gotten dressed yet, it‘s still not day light out.…….

I am going…to be very busy this week, Getting ready for fall festival (what ever happen to just saying Halloween party) Sat night. I love the Halloween season and all the little ghost and goblins running around. I know they aren’t allowed to dress up like that at Church any more….but some still come by the house.

I am creating...gifts for door prizes for the “Fall Festival”

I am reading...Beth Moore’s study of Daniel. We will study the prophets this week.

I am hearing...total silence except for the clicking of the keyboard and the humm of the modem…every once in awhile a lone car going by.

Around the house...really got to clean up kitchen, defrosted freezer and got it organized Sat. Watch out I’m on a roll, just might organize the blog before it’s over with. Also need to fold clothes and wash some more…

One of my favorite things...the still of a cool crisp Mississippi Oct. morning…and the sound of a Whipper Will.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Monday…clean house good. Go to town and talk to insurance salesman…(I hate this job) but will be losing my GM insurance starting Jan 1, so have no choose. ...

Tuesday…go to Wally World and buy candy for Sat night, some for our little Ghost and Goblins that come knocking every year….and some for the Fall Festival and hay ride at Church, plus get stuff to make a cake for the cake walk.

Weds….finish painting door prize and take to Church when I go to Bible Study tonight.

Thurs…hopeful get the grass cut for the last time this year. Yep you read that right, getting ready for Halloween by cutting the grass, “only in the deep South”…lol….

Fri. …need to go visit Niece who had spine surgery last week. Boy the Drs love my family this month…lol, but..I am just Thankful all is doing ok and they were able to get help, so many in our world today can’t afford to get the help they need.

Sat…make cake for tonight....It's the big spooky Day..lol..Halloween, getting ready for the Hay Ride and FF.. fun night with friends.

Sunday Church and then if it‘s pretty DH and I plan to do a little back roads driving in search of old long forgotten cemeteries. I love to read the old head stones and take pictures.…..

Here is picture thought I am sharing...I received this in an email, and I really have to admit sometimes I feel like doing the very same thing to some of the folks I know ...lol...
Hope everyone has a great week and relax, enjoy the week, enjoy the Holiday, it is just a fun day, don't try to make it anything else...give folks credit for knowing right from wrong... we all take life to seriously some times, just remember none of us is going to get out of this world alive, have a blessed week. I am planning on having a blast passing out candy to the little ghost and witches and goblins, then will also enjoy the "Fall Festival"

  1. I've seen that picture before, but it still makes me laugh.

Glad you're family members are doing okay. It's the vet with us. Seems like my fur children know when momma and daddy have a few extra bucks. Wham, a vet bill.

  2. You are right. I remember when I was a kid you never heard about Halloween being evil. It was so much fun to dress up and go trick-or-treating. We even had a Halloween party at church...no so anymore. Your fall festival does sound like it's going to be fun. Enjoy all those ghouls and goblins that stop by your house! Karen

  4. Molly, I love how you just "tell it like it is." I grew up with kids dressed as devils and witches and monsters and all sorts of stuff, and guess what, back then, kids could ROAM free, no one was trying to kill 'em and get 'em, and it wasn't an evil time at all. Nowdays everyone is trying to clean it up and getting all hot about it but it's THESE TIMES that are truly scary and evil for the kids.

You have such a busy week. I am so glad your son is doing better this second round of surgery. Keeping hopes and prayers for all your family struggling with illnesses.

  5. Of all the lines that struck me, ". . .get stuff to make a cake for the cake walk" just sent a pang of longing-for-a-smalltown through me. How wonderful to be able to go to a festival, party, fund-raiser, celebration and to WIN A CAKE!! And to take it home with no fear and no worry, for it was made with pride and love by a neighbor, a Sunday School Classmate, a friend. I SO miss that.

I do love to see all the little ones all dressed and out---we usually have about 200 so we have at least that many candy bars all stacked in their boxes in the cool guest room.

I hope you all a wonderful celebration!!

  6. Good Morning Molly!
Thank you sweetie for stopping by and sending some wonderful thoughts my way. It has been a very hard the last few days and my heart is very heavy. Your thoughts warmed my soul. Thank you.

Love your post, it is precious. The grandkids are going to their Fall festival at school. They still have cake walks and face painting and games. Fun things, that have no evil underlying messages. I am happy for that. Thank you for sharing. It still gives us hope for a better tomorrow. Can I come along on the hay ride? That would be so wonderful.

Thank you Molly. God Bless and keep you all safe. Country hugs and love, Sherry
