OK, I am going to make a statement that I am ready sad to say...I should love what I had to do for Sat night, but for some reason I just can't get in the mood to paint, I am either burnt out or could it be because I just have no where this year to sell my paintings. Have tried Ebay..did real good last year but since the Election and the failing economy, I just can't sell anything. And what does sell, sells for less than I have in it and I'm not going to spend my time to not make anything.
The lady where we usually have our Christmas show has decided not to have it this year, she has moved to a large show at the Trade Mart in Jackson, and I just don't want to fool with spending hundreds to get into that show only to make just enough to pay my expenses. So I just can't get into the painting mode....sad.
But anyhow my Get R Done project this week took 3 weeks to do when it would normally take a couple to 4 hrs...
Our Church is having a Fall Festival Sat night and asked for some of us to donate gifts for door prizes and I volunteered to paint a tray with a hen on it and also a set of 4 frosted ornies for the Christmas tree.
I did a bunch of these ornies and sold them last year and thought that this would be a good gift. I painted them much the same way I painted the snowmen faces on the snowmen wine glasses, you can go here to see how they are done....these didn't take long to do, did them in between doing the platter and setting it aside...
This next item took me too long to do, I already had the 16" charger painted red so all I had to do was transfer my pattern and paint, I transferred the pattern the Sunday evening after the Preacher requested the door prizes..pretty good start
That's as far as I made it that day...then Tues, I decided to do a little more and got the black back ground painted...whee I'm getting to be speedy Gonzales...lol and painted some of the leaves...
well I got side tracked the rest of that day,,,hummm don't remember what I did but I know it had to be important...like watch TV or play on Computer..you know, important...giggle
The next Sat it rained so I decided to do a little more on the plate..couldn't do anything else, took several hours to get the hen done, just kept finding reasons to do something else...Well a whole week past before I decided to go back in the paint room and work on the flowers and remaining leaves......sigh...time is running out...got to get busy...
I didn't paint anymore untill 2 weeks later...and I knew I had to finish it because I had to take it to Chuch Weds night for Sat night Festival..so Tues I set down and made myself finish it...painted the centers of the flowers and all the little finish work...The finished project and it got delivered to Church Weds night on time...This is one Get R Done project I was beginning to think wasn't going to get done....Got to get to painting have several Christmas gifts to finish, it's a long time to Christmas...not...

Molly, I LOVE your little snowmen ornaments ... they are so precious. You are so talented and I'm sorry the economy has affected your sales.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good weekend. The rain is supposed to move out today and bring cooler temperatures -- YAY!
Molly you are so talented. I wish I had just an iota of the talent you have. I hope you find a way to sell your paintings. I've noticed some of my blogging friends have an etsy shop on their blog. I don't know anything about it but maybe you could check into something like that.
ReplyDeleteYour projects are adorable! The snowmen/ladies are sweet, and of course I love the hen!!! You SHOULD set up an etsy account - easy, and only 20 cents to list an item for 4 months before you need to renew! Read the rules on their pages - they are well advertised in different popular magazines. Check it out! You've got TALENT, Girl!!!
ReplyDeleteAll of them are so good. You have an amazing talent. I'm sorry you are burnt out. I understand that I wouldn't want to sell my stuff for less than what I have in it either.
ReplyDeleteWow! Molly! You sure do have a talent for painting! Those snowmen ornaments look better than what they sell in the stores! And they aren't made in China. And your rooster is gorgeous! I wish I knew how to paint!
ReplyDeleteGet R Done Friday!
Angela
Wow - you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteLove the snowmen ornaments.
That plate is gorgeous also!
Molly, your talent is absolutely incredible. How neat to actually see your painting transform right before our eyes. People are nuts for hens, if you went on etsy, you'd be a hit for sure! Love the snowmen ornaments too.
ReplyDeleteGood golly Miss Molly...you're something else!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN.
ReplyDeleteMolly, What talent you have, I am very impressed and I love the plate with the rooster. I agree, you could do great on ETsy.....Happy Halloween!.
ReplyDeleteBarbara
Oh! love the ornaments! And the plate was worth the time you said you took!
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
