I'm sad, hurt and disappointed Must read

Good morning my blogging buddies, I'm so sad this morning and disappointed not in you, my friends, but in myself...I have always been so open and trusting of everyone, that I didn't follow my own advice about being careful, and keeping my eyes open, I have my blog set up where anyone can post, I felt like only my friends and enemies alike...lol...would read it or post, I can take criticism no problem we all don't agree on everything.
I just couldn't believe what I saw this morning,.... I have an email sent to me when anyone comments, that way if someone has commented on a past post I will be sure and see it. I was so ...how will I say "it wondering", this morning when I received 6 emails that a disa had comment on 6 of my Blue Monday post from back in March and April, in Chinese, so I click on her/his name..to check out their blog, I was quite disturbed when I saw their blog, very dark only 4 friends and no post, So I immediately went to Google translator and translated the note,...well now I'm no innocent little grandma, but I was so shocked and pissed at what it said, someone of very low life was using my blog to post their porno site...
I immediately went to all the pages and permanently deleted the comment, but am so sad that my blog was violated in this way.
Sadly I am having to go to every post must be approved by me before it is posted. I did not want to do this or even use a code, but I can not and will not let my blog be used for this....
So to my friends I apology for this inconvientance and hope you will continue to leave comments.
And to all by dear friends who like me are too trusting and open, please be careful. There are all kinds of evil out there.

  1. Sweet Molly, I have seen this happen to a few bloggers this past week. There is no wrong in you protecting your blog. I have mine set where I must approve all comments 1st. We all put 100% of ourselves into our blogs, so we can not allow scum to come along and hinder this.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but you are taking the right action.

  2. You are not alone. The lovely lady posted on 6 of my older posts too. Like you, I'm set up to receive an email notifying me of a comment.

No problem! I just clicked on the comment title link and it takes me to the offending comment. I delete it. Easy as pie! Try it. Stay happy and FREE. You don't need to have any post must be approved.

  3. Thanks for the warning. I had one follower early on that was some sort of militia rebellion site from South America with distrubing violent photos. I didn't want anyone clicking their profile in my folowers and seeing that! I found you can block them from showing up on your follower list and leaving comments if you click on Followers on your dashboard.

  4. It's sad that we have to do that. I may have to end up doing it too.

  5. Oh My gosh, I had no idea this type of thing was out there either. I am in the same boat as you. I will have to be considering mine to be approved before it is posted also. Not sure what that will mean exactly, but like you I don't want one of those crazies out there on my site either. Thanks for the tip honey. Have a wonderful day, and I will keep posting here, I love it. Country hugs, Sherry

  6. Wow. Thanks for the heads up. I have a Twitter account, and I occasionally get notifications that some strange person is following me, so I just block him/her and never look back. I don't ever Tweet anyway. Not sure why I created that account.

  7. I certainly can relate to this. I had the same thing happen to me on my blog with a porn and death type site was being spammed on my comment screen. You hate to have to approve comments but for safety sake it's worth the effort. And trust me, all of your true readers will understand and support you in this. I know I sure do.

  8. I had wondered earlier this morning if it was just Google acting up, because you never had comment moderation before. Now I know why it was there. How unfortunate! And aren't these spammer types stupid, too -- who in the world is LESS LIKELY to be interested in their foolishness than country-style ladies who like to pain, prim, visit and go junkin'???!!!!

  9. It is a shame that we do have to monitor our comments, but unfortunately that is the way it is.
I set up my blog to monitor every comment from the very beginning. I want to have control of my blog and the comments posted.
There are a lot of nuts out there and this is one way we can keep our blogs free of such garbage, hopefully.
Please don't feel you have to apologize for monitoring your comments, sweet Molly. We are only protecting each other, in my opinion.
Take care and I love your blog, too!!
    Hugs,
    Lynn♥

  10. Molly, I'm so sorry. When I originally set up my blog, I accidentally (only because I didn't know what I was doing) set it up to approve comments first. I was even thinking lately of changing that to not having to approve first. But not now, I'm leaving it just as it is.

  11. Oh Molly, this is very upsetting! What I don't get is why post comments on these old posts (sneaky and running below the radar but I still don't get it)...I don't have e-mail notification-makes me wonder what's lurking back there on my old posts?

Hope you have a great week-end!

  12. I have never seen this happen to anyone I follow before so thank you for pointing it out. I just went to "approval" myself. It was strongly suggested by another blogger. While that may seem like it will put people off, it is so much better than the word verification which is so difficult to get right.

  13. This is so sad, I may have to change mine also.
I am so sorry, this is so upsetting.
~ Blessings to you, have a wonderful weekend dear Molly !

  14. I have heard of several bloggers this week who have had this problem. Maybe this guy is hitting all the blogs. What a weirdo!

  15. That's so odd... I just think of "our group" reading our stuff, and not perverted troublemakers.
How in the world do they find our nice, normal sites to corrupt anyway?

  16. Sorry to hear about this problem. I haven't had this happen to me just yet. Or if it has I don't know it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and don't worry about the comments approval. We will all do what we have to.

  17. It's a cruel dangerous world out there. I'm sorry you had this experience. A couple of times I received long long comments on past posts that were kind of crazy and didn't make sense. It is disconcerting to say the least. At least I'm glad we can delete that kind of stuff.
    Have a good weekend.

  18. Thank you so much for this warning!!! I will definitely be more careful, I too have been naive in thinking that only goodness resides here in blogland. How very sad that evil has penetrated even these walls...

  19. Thanks for the alert. I've not had any problems like that, so it is new to me as to how it can happen - and they use your older posts too - sneaky snakes! I'm glad you let us know about how it happened to you! I'll watch things better myself now.

  20. Molly, I'm sorry to hear about what happened, and can sympathize with you because I've had someone TRYing to post comments in Chinese on one of my blog posts for about two months now. I keep deleting them, and even rejected one of them, but they are very persistent and continue to send the comment every day. I've gotten where I just delete them, but it surely is a nuisance! I don't blame you for being more careful.

  21. Oh dear! I am so sorry. I have never visited you before so have not seen what you are speaking of. I do know, however, that when I was downloading my music...something odd like that came up. And it still does. I just click it off and have never had it translated...as I don't really know how nor did I see any language translation place to do it.
I do hope that is NOT what it was!
It's scary..really scary. I have only had one incident but it wasn't anything like that. It was just a vicious attack on my blog. Still it upset me and I am still cautious. I think I have a couple of followers that have writing in a different language but I didn't pay any attention to it. NO comments...at least so far!
Thank you so much for the warning!

  22. Hi, Molly
What a shame. I completely understand how you feel. My blog is a refuge and a place to "meet" with my friends here on the internet. It does feel like a violation - like some one "broke into your home". I'm glad you are taking precautions to not have to deal with stuff like that again. Have a lovely weekend! ((Hugs))

  23. Molly - after going thur something similar, I did the same as you for a long time. A few months ago, I changed my comments so that I am notified of every new comment, but I have to approve those comments made more than 3-days after the original post was published. It works pretty good for me, but again today, I had to delete a comment made by a spammer... there is no rest for the weary.
