Happy Memorial Day and may God Bless America Again

Today is Memorial Day, a day set aside to Honor our Brave Men and Women of the Military who have and will fight to keep our Country safe, past and present. Without these brave men and women, no one would have the freedom to speak as they wish. America is a great Country and God has blessed us over and over, but still we turn our Backs on him, we won't let him in our Schools, he's not allowed to be seen or mentioned in Government meeting or building like Court houses. We can't put up our Nativity Scenes or Crosses at Christmas and Easter on State and Federal property, We must keep our Church and State separate...now long do you think God is going to Bless us when we turn our backs on him. Will our young men and women have died in vain? ...America is not to great to fall, we stand only because God lets us.
I lost an Uncle in the South Pacific, shot down over Guadalcanal at age 20, he never got to live the good life his dying earned for the rest of us. 2 Uncles serviced on the Beaches of the South Pacific, until their death several years ago, neither would talk about the War. My Mother's Brother service in Europe, he was at the Battle of the Bulge. He too refused to talk about it. All 3 said they would do it again for our country and their loved ones.
I know everyone of you have had someone Serve in the Military for our freedom. So let's remember them and say Thank you.

The same goes today, our Government and News Media tells to much about their movements and secrets

Sunday Favorite Re-run...the Making of Morgan Caroline

It's time for Sunday Favorite re-run by Chari over @ happytodesign http://happytodesign.blogspot.com/ be sure and check out all of the other great re-runs on her page.....
I am reposting a post that I did right after I started blogging, It is called the Making of Morgan Caroline.
NEW DOLL IN THE MAKING
Last year I decided to try my hand at making dolls again, I plan on giving a blow by blow in pictures as I progress on it, so here's the step by step process as I did it and it is now finished, I haven't made a doll since the early 80. Hope you enjoy following along on this journey with me. I had purchased the doll body from Marie At MamawCreations, so all I had to do was stuff it and go from there. Sure saved alot of time cutting and sewing. Check out her great shop full of patterns, doll bodies and dolls already maded. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5235568
First I sewed the body and stuffed it. Then I painted on her cute little face....she looks deformed

Step 2; I stuffed then added the arms and legs I also painted the legs blue stripped and the shoes black ahhh, she's starting to come together....
Step 3, I made dress from material of choose. I used a pattern I bought from MamawCreations

Step 4, I added hair I used blond yarn and a large needle and sewed the hair in by adding one row of yarn over the top seam, and then made her ponytails.

last step is to make her apron and there you have Morgan Caroline

She is now in the home of my Granddaughter Morgan Caroline...

An award and I cried when the mail ran today...

This is my second post today but I just had to post this, I am so Blessed....
First I would like to thank Lynn from http://lynnslovelies.blogspot.com/ for this special award
she gave me.
Lynn I am really honored that you wanted me to have this award. Be sure and check Lynn's blog out if you haven't stopped by before, she is such a sweetie and her blog is so easy and relaxing to read.
First let me say I am not a person that cries very easy, I was always told by my Granny that only weaklings cry....I am also not one to be able to pretend to cry, it's just not in me, I either am moved to tears or I just don't cry, unless I am mad and if I get so mad I start crying EVERYONE in my Family knows to go the other way...WELL TODAY I WAS MOVED TO TEARS...and not because I was mad...I was so touched......I want everyone to know what wonderful blogger friends we have here in our little community. So many have emailed me sending prayers for my recovery, it has been over whelming ...I never realized how many friends I had.
Well today that was just reinforced, when I went to the mail box, this is what I found, two little packages NOT one but Two from 2 different parts of the Country...that held the most wonderful treasures, the first though it was small held a gaint peice of a sweet lady's heart. It was a beautiful pair of her handmade earrings, this wonderful lady puts a little of herself into every pair she makes... that sweet Lady is none other than our Penni from http://penniwigs.blogspot.com/ be sure and check out her blog and other works of art....here is what she sent
In the package was a sweet little note that read "get well soon" and a little lace flower laying on top of the whole package, inside was a beautiful pair of rose gold earrings. Thank you so much Penni, you are a big softy despite what you try to make people think. I am honored to call you friend.
Aren't they beautiful...
Next was a package about the size of a magazine I knew something was coming in the mail from this sweet lady but just didn't know what...now I want to tell you I was tearing up when I opened Penni's package, but when I opened this package I was blown away. How beautiful this special gift was...OK, now I am crying, even DH had to come see what I was blubbering for, I told you it's rare for me to cry...lol...he was also very amazed at this wonderful gift. the lady who sent me this precious gift was none other than Bea from http://beasblabber.blogspot.com/ check her out if you've never been over there you will enjoy it....OK I've kept you waiting long enough here is the little treasure she sentThis is the sweet little note that was in with the table runner...
It says "she found this in a cedar chest, she got it in a box of linen at an auction And since she doesn't have anywhere to display it, she thought I might want it to use". How beautiful it is, my favorite subject...Mr. Rooster all stately and beautiful hand worked. This is so very beautiful and all around the edge is trimmed in red and white crochet. Again I want to say how lucky I am to have Friends like you sweet ladies.
I am still crying like a baby every time I look at my beautiful blessings and Bea I promise I will take great care of the scarf and when I get it displayed I will take a picture and share. And Penni, The Earrings will be worn Tues when I go back to the Dr for good luck.

A facelift for an old friend......can't do without them'...

I am one tired chick this morning, my fat old behind hadn't been on a ladder for that long in years...but let me start at the beginning.......... To begin, I want to say I live in a small 1970's Brick Ranch that DH and I had built in 1971.
It is not big nor elaborate but it is home. When we built, we built what we could afford and it was to some standards small, but nice, 3 bedrooms 1 bath, it had 2 tiny baths on the plans, but we made 1 large, a den and living room, which we finally tore the wall out and made 1 large room, and large kitchen/dining room. I love my home, it is were my 2 oldest boys were raised, they were 2 and 7 when we moved in, it is where baby boy was born and raised, my memories are here, I can close my eyes and hear them playing in there bedrooms, or walk into the living room and see as many as 10 little boys or teen boys asleep on the floor in sleeping bags, they loved hanging out at our place, their childhood spirits still remain and I dearly love this place and will never move as long as God grants me the ability to keep it.
This being said, I do need to bring it into the modern world....lol...DH was raised that you didn't borrow money to pay for something you could do without, and remodeling fell in that category. Now don't get me wrong we wall papered the Den and did little things that we could pay for with no problem, but large renovations were out of the question like added rooms or Major re dos. We did gut our kitchen and redid it in 1998 and I still love it, I had friends tell me I should send pictures of it to a magizene...right....
I changed the small bedroom into a work studio and the middle size bedroom a 12' x 13' into the guest bedroom, you saw my redo of it here.
http://mollyscountrycolorshomeplace.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-bedroom-re-do.html.
Our bed room is a 16' x 15', so the rooms aren't big but suitable. These 2 rooms are done and just waiting for the hardwood flooring.
So now I am doing our bath, the bath is long and narrow, 5' x 14', it was redone in the late 90's using white for the wall and a border trim around the top, why I thought that was pretty I don't know but yesterday the wallpaper trim came down now that was a job.. my big bottom stayed on that ladder for 4 hrs but it was worth it
Here you can see where I started taking it down, I used spray Windex and a putty knife
This is a view of the long wall where the shelf holding my collectibles is.
This is the section over the make up lights and my wooden medicine cabinets DH made, they will be painted linen before this is over. And all of his collection of old after shave bottles will have a new home.
It did get a little messy, but it will all be worth it.
This is a long view of the bath, finished most of the trim removal, but can I just say right here and now how much I hate that shower door, which by the way I am keeping, yea that's right, keeping, DH loves it and won't budge on getting rid of it...augggggg....anywho when we build, there was no shower thus the window over the tub, remember this house was built in 1970, when we added the shower in '84 I was stuck with the window problem, so I just used a long shower curtain, I have not been able to find a water proof window curtain, but this time I am working on a plan to keep the light and make the window look nicer. Also the pegs on the shelf was for towels, but as you can see DH uses it as a pants rack...another AUGGGGGGG....the hole in the ceiling is where he is replacing a light, so it isn't usually there

This shelf will also be painted linen like the rest of the cabinets and chair rails. I am having to hold off on painting till Tuesday, cause of the rain we are going to have for 5 days, plus we have ball games to attend today, won't paint on Sunday and Monday Ronnie and family are coming down to spend the day. I will be keeping Rissa Kat for the next 4 weeks. Every Thurs I will have to take her back to Richland for Tumble Classes and spend the night up there and watch her till her Mom gets off from work Fri. Then I'll come home and they will bring here back down on Sundays.
This is a picture of a dirty clothes bin DH made me 30 yrs ago, I had started removing the doors before taking this picture but the redo will be coming soon....stay turned for more on the face lift for an old lady...it's surprising what a little lipstick and rouge can do.

Family Foto Friday..Dance Little Ballerina

It's Family Foto Friday again Deborah over at http://picturespotspens.blogspot.com/ is hosting Favorite Family Foto. You get to see lots of family photos, hop on over and check them out.
Last Thursday evening, Our little Tomboy..Mo-Mo, turned into a little Lady, and she just took my breath away to see the Beauty she is becoming...This is her first year to take Dance
NOW this is how we are used to seeing her... all sports and rough and tough....either playing with her dogs or her goat.......

But Thurs we were in for a treat This is the 7-8 yr olds...She is the little one in the middle on the back row in pink right in front of the tallest girl in white. She had that little hip movement going on. I wanted to get a video, but we weren't allowed to bring video cameras. She is center front on this one. They danced to Call Me and Who let the Dogs out.....

She is the 2 from the left on front row, she's got them hands on her hips and those hips rolling...lol...as her Aunt Kathy said, she had it going on, our little tomboy is growing up.

She had just introduced herself in here and of course I didn't snap fast enough.
She loved her flowers but was so proud of her medal she won. She's holding it in between her flowers.
