Blue Monday

Good Morning fellow bloggers and dear friends...
It is time for Blue Monday over at Sally's house. Please visit Smiling Sally by clicking here
Thurs. night I went to Richland to watch Baby Girl cheer in the City Super Bowl..It was the last game of the year and the team that the Rebels were playing had been undefeated all year and had won the Super Bowl 2 years in a row..Baby Girl didn't have much hope that their team would win, but they gave it a good try...guess what? THEY WON...22-21 in over time...yea Rebels....
I call my pictures today the face of love..Baby Girl loves her big Bubba more than anything in this world..he has worked all year and hasn't been able to attend one of the games, well Thurs he made sure he could get off early enough to surprise her..and was she surprised and so happy...she had to run up to the stands and hug her Bubba....

I just love this picture, I think it will end up in a frame....

Sunday Favorite Re-runs

It's time again for Sunday Favorite Re-runs, a new Meme hosted by Chari over @ happytodesign http://happytodesign.blogspot.com/
Since we are getting close to the Holidays and some of us will be needing some little but special gift for Friends, Teacher, Mailman, Etc; etc; I am reposting a post I did on March 25, I have used this before as a Sunday re-post, but though that right now would be a good time to redo it, incase anyone missed it...It shows how to make the little hats for the snowmen glasses that I posted last week...I posted this in March right after I posted the glass how-to. You can see those here
Making these little hats are so simple but they really dress up a lot of different things, Baseball make-do snowmen, wine glass snowmen and light bulb snowmen ornies....

You will need
a sock...any color or texture
14" narrow ribbon of your choice. I have even used twine
scissors

These are the items you will need....

Using the scissors cut just above the heel line, making sure to cut above the heel.

This is how it should look, straight

On the end that you cut, cut into the sock in little narrow strips up to the cuff line....

lay ribbon under sock at the bottom of the little slits

And tie into a bow,

Now you've made a hat, so very very simple. But it sure does dress up our little snowmen...

The Reason for the Season...

I received this Poem in an E-mail this morning and it hit home so hard, that I had to passed it on,
I am so tired of the PC Police taking my freedoms, on the grounds that we don't want to offend others. Christians saying Merry Christmas is offensive.. I am not offended by saying Happy Ramadan, Happy Hanukkah or Happy Kwanzaa to you, so why should you be offended by saying Merry Christmas to me. If everyone should be tolerant to others religion then what happened to being tolerant of the Christian Faith... I believe we all have the right to worship our own God and celebrate our own Faith and Holidays...
SO IF I OFFEND YOU OR ANYONE ELSE BY SAYING MERRY CHRISTMAS INSTEAD OF HAPPY HOLIDAY, WELL!!! GET OVER IT, I'M OFFENDED EVERYDAY BY PEOPLE TELLING ME WE CAN'T PRAY IN SCHOOLS OR AT A SPORTING EVENT. THAT MY CHILD CAN'T WEAR A SHIRT WITH CHRIST ON IT, EVEN THOUGH IT IS PC FOR OTHERS TO WEAR A SHIRT WITH THEIR BELIEF ON IT, THAT I CAN'T CELEBRATE MY LORDS BIRTH....NO, I CAN'T SAY CHRISTMAS TREE, MERRY CHRISTMAS......YES I AM OFFENDED EVERYDAY AND THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN ME, TO BE OFFENDED.

*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away,*
*The reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.*
*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken &; Fonda.*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.*
*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton !*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
* Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*
*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*
*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS ,
not Happy Holiday !*

Please, all Christians join together and
wish everyone you meet
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christ is The Reason' for the Christ-mas Season!

Sunday Favorite Re-run

It's time again for Sunday Favorite Re-runs, a new Meme hosted by Chari over @ happytodesign http://happytodesign.blogspot.com/
Since we are getting close to the Holidays and some of us will be needing some little but special gift for Friends, Teacher, Mailman, Etc; etc; I am reposting a post I did on March 25, I have used this before as a Sunday repost, but though that right now would be a good time to redo it, incase anyone missed it...It shows how to take a simple wine glass and make it a special treasure for someone...I made several of these last year as Christmas gifts, for couples I would make a his and hers, and then would fill them with silver bells or other Christmas candy. Next week I will post how to make the cute, but simple hats for them to wear.....
How to A wine glass Snowman ....
I had planned to make a video of this but then I realized my camera is in Madison over 2 hrs away...so much for videos, so I'm going to try to show you the best I can...you only need 4 colors of paint and we will mix to make the colors we need...

You will need

1 stem wine glass

a small section of sponge ( just a small kitchen sponge is fine)

a small stencil brush,

a thin point black marker

a small liner brush and a #2 round brush

1 bottle of red acrylic paint

black acrylic paint

yellow acrylic paint

white acrylic paint.

a paper plate

water, you can use a pint jar

paper towels

scissors
Thanks Terry for reminding me to add....wash glass in warm soapy water, dry... and then before you start, wipe with alcohol to remove any oil from your hands or any soap residue. Next cut a small square from the sponge and wet it in the water make sure to squeeze as much water out as possible, then dip the sponge into the white paint
Just started dabbing the glass with the white paint, do not paint all the way to the top, you need to leave an area to drink from where there is no paint. It will take about 3 coats to cover it good. Be sure and let it dry for about an hour between each coat. Cover the stem and the foot of the glass also
Just a few ideas, but you can make any face you like on these.. use your imagination.

Once the base coat is dry, completely, totally dry, draw a face on the glass, I usually use the thin point black marker, that way I already have my black outline and all I have to do is fill in the color. Don't worry if your lines aren't exactly where you want them to be, like my left eye, I can straighten it up with a little white paint and redrawing the line.

On the paper plate put out a puddle of black and a puddle of white. Put out red and yellow. Use just a drop of the red in the yellow to make orange, mix and add colors untill you get desired orange, in another spot add a drop of red to the white to form pink. Using the round brush color book the eyes and mouth black..
Then using the round paint the nose orange.....
Pick up some of the pink on a dry stencil brush, wiping most of it off on a paper towel. Using a circular motion lightly touching the glass add the cheeks...do not rub hard or you'll lift the white off.
I took the liner brush and some black paint and straighten the messed up left eye and then filled in the upper eye section with white covering up the first line...wa-la..the mess up is gone...I used the liner brush and some white to draw a high lite line on the nose, added a comma stroke of white to the eyes and mouth and just a dot of white to the cheeks, add hat and he's done. You can add pine or holly leaves around the base if you like or add a ribbon. I filled mine with silver bells.
After your glass completely dries spray with a clear acrylic spray being care not to spray the rim of your glass. I usually cover the top part with masking tape while I spray the whole painted area.
Do not wash your glass in the dish washer or in hot soapy water, wipe the painted area with a damp cloth, the inside and rim can be washed with a hot soapy dish cloth..
I hope I didn't confuse anybody and you enjoyed my little how - to...
