To me simple pleasures are capturing images on my camera, images of a time gone by or a time slowing fading away. As I travel south on I-55 From Brookhaven to McComb I always pass this old abandoned home, it has been there for as long as I can remember, it sets very close to the interstate and has a fence around it to keep folks from the highway from tresspassing. I have long been attracted to the way they repaired it as it slowly started decaying, notice the big metal advertising signs...I know that at one time it had to be someone's home, a time before the interstate came through and pushed it's family out. Notice the curtains still in the windows.
Tues when I went to the Dr I finally pulled over ( not a smart thing to do on the interstate ) and took a few pictures. It was such a dreary day and everything was so drab that in the last picture I was surprised to see the red berries making the picture all pretty and bright...

Your photos are so pertty. I grew up in the country . The older I get the more I think about it . Your photos remind me of home.

I love photos of old homes and barns. The rusty tin and the weathered timber have a beauty all of their own! I enjoyed seeing these photos :-)

Photography surely is a simple pleasure. It's good to be able to stop and spend some time taking photos, well done with yours.

How wonderful that you participate in the 365 project. I did the everyday one last year, however i had to make some changes to my life and one of them was to do the project once a week. Lovely old home. I too get tremendous simple pleasure out of my camera. Just last week I did a thankful post about it.

Molly, so glad I found you! I too am a MS girl, but sounds like I'm over where the sun rises from you. :) I have just found my love for photography too and am learning. ReplyDeleteYou are a girl after my own heart. I love to drive and find the unexpected pleasures to photograph, and this one would have spoken to me too. I LOVE old houses. I like to imagine the story they could tell. The windows with the tie back curtains made a particularly pretty picture.

ReplyDeleteMolly I love the pics you've taken of that abandoned house. We have a similar one which you can see easily off the main road into Shrewsbury. It's been boarded up for as long as I can remember. It's a lovely little old fashioned brick built house with a little cow shed to the side of it - all boarded up. It does make you wonder about the people who lived there and it makes you feel a bit sad in a way that it's no more! I hope you are feeling better every day. Take care. Love from the other Molly xx

ReplyDeleteGreat shots - old buildings like this are awesome. I love both simple pleasures like a walk in the country or a dog on my lap, as well as complex pleasures like symphonies and concerts.
ReplyDeleteThose are some really great pictures Molly! I'm glad that you took them before they tore it down or something. I wish I had taken a few pictures of a grand old house near my house that they tore down. There was also another old abandoned house that was falling down that someone set fire to that I wish I had gotten a picture of. I say now when there is a photo opportunity you should take it because it might not be there later!
