Bed Fence

Thrifty Thursday takes place each Thursday and is hosted by Leigh at Tales from Bloggeritaville,

It's Vintage Thingie Thursday over at Colorado Lady's place...don't forget to go by and tell Suzanne how much you appreciate her sponsoring it for us...
How with the bed fence they will have to use the path through the arbor...lol..yes..Levi's not too happy
Next I added a bed on this side of the fence, that is Confederate Jasmine planted on the fence
Didn't like the look, so I decided to put in a border, it helps give it a little flair and helps hold the mulch in...I also planted some herbs, like Sage, Parsley and Marjoram....
Front view of the house, put cushions in the swing and like the look with the little fence.
Added L shape bed on the front side of the fence. I planted Silvia, Old Maids, Lillies and Flags in this bed...can't wait for them to start growing and spread and fill the bed up
Levi wants to come through so bad...lol...
 Front view...
 from Driveway side...
OK, I know you are wondering why I bought the bed to start with, since this was just a second thought...ok, here it is..my propane gas take sits right outside my patio door and I can't stand how it looks...
Better shot, I had a old wild rose growing in front of it but it was just trashy looking..it was so old, it was half dead and took up most of the yard, you can see how big it was by the dead grass circle. I dug most of it up and cut it out, but had to spray what was left so I have to wait 7 days before making a new bed...
This is what I plan to use the head of the bed for..will show you what it looks like when I finish it.

  1. Oh this is really clever, I like this idea a LOT. And boy did you go to town on the planting! I was so impressed with myself for the tiny amount of yard work I got done this week and you put me to shame, lol! Happy VTT and happy gardening!

  9. I love it, Molly! What a great idea, and I can't wait to see how you screen the tank.

Isn't it fun making our "visions" a reality.

  10. I've got an old iron headboard and footboard closing off my back garden, and I'm not crazy about how it looks. Yours looks beautiful, and I thing you've inspired me to maybe paint them a darker color, instead of the white that they are now. They look good when all of the plants in the garden are growing, but in the winter, it just doesn't look right. I'm so glad I saw your post today, because this problem has been bothering me for a while, but I didn't know what to do about it. Now I do!
    Happy VTT!

  11. Don't you luv it when you buy 1 piece with a plan in mind and then have a brainstorm for the rest of the item.

Very cool Molly. I think I see some vines or something on the other piece to hid that propane tank behind. LOL...one of the ugly things us country people usually have in our yard. Ours is at least on the other side of the cyclone fence. In the pasture, so I have a flower bed on the yard side of the fence.

  14. Molly,

That's exactly what I would have thought when I saw the bed for sale! I'll have to make do for now, though, with a big ole white lattice gate we found on a dumpster.

And I DO have a place for it.

Yours is going to be beautiful.

  17. Such a great idea you came up with for something that was probably headed for the landfill. You are very creative. Love the little herb garden you made. Happy VTT!!

  18. I love what you've done Molly (poor ol' Levi don't, tho!!!) -- but since you are such a great shopper, keep your eye out for ANOTHER bed -- I have seen them put in the yard, with PLANTS planted between header and footboard like it's a coverlet!!!

  19. Molly you are so clever! What a great idea and your yard looks wonderful!
When I see things like this I always wish I had the nerve to buy them. My hubby always asks me "what will you do with it" and I usually just think "I don't know but I'll think of something" and then we pass it by.
    You have inspired me!
