Vintage Thingie Thursday

Hello my dear friends, first let me say how much I appreciated the sweet comments and emails I received after my post last week about needing time off. All of your sweet prayers and wishes were much needed.
Ronnie had his surgery again yesterday and is doing fine, even though he is in a lot of pain, the tare was larger and deeper this time. Since he just had the first surgery 2 mos ago it wasn't totally healed. I am slowly working out some of my problems, it is sad to work all your life so when you reach my age, you won't have to worry only to have it taken away by means behind your control, but, even with this set back I am totally blessed and will move on as usual.
I haven't took part in vintage thingie Thurs. in a while, but I just had to show you my new "old" dresser sets, that I found when Sis and I went rambling a couple of weeks ago.
The first set is an eggshell color with a pale yellow hand made lace trim and beautiful baskets full of pink flowers embroidered on them, there was only 2 of these, one center section and one side scarf. Sure wish there had been all 3 of them. The 2 pieces cost me $2.00; a buck apiece....I just love the delicate hand work on this pieces.

This next set is so different from what I usually like, but the black just seemed perfect with my black furniture and black and beige bedspread and curtains....this dresser set had all 3 pieces...ya...and it only cost $6.
See how nice it matches the bedspread?...

HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY VINTAGE THINGIES! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

  2. Oh my, I love the fancy stitching on both sets. The girls are so cheerful-lookin' and the baskets of flowers are just gorgeous. To think someone many years ago set and stitched them up...I wonder who...

Hope Ronnie feels better soon, the surgery is so hard. I am sure it worries his mind, wondering if this one will "take" or not.

  7. Those dresser sets are really pretty. They remind me of some things my grandmother use to do.

  8. That second set really is unusual, because you don't normally see black used, but I can see that it goes perfectly with your decor. It was meant to be!
    Happy VTT!

  9. So many hours of work on these unusual pieces. I don't think I've seen any so delicate as the first set, and I know that I've never seen black used so effectively.

  10. Your post today is right down my ally. I love old linens. I have lots of them that have been handed down. I treasure them and the time that went into making them. I have not seen any with the black work. Very nice.

  13. Oh,I love vintage embroidered linens! I am always on the hunt for them at the thrift stores...haven't found too many, though. I'm also embroiderying again myself, so maybe I'll have to make my own, if I can find the vintage fabrics. Very pretty!

    God bless,
    Mary
