Blue Monday/Blueberry Sat.

This is just to let you know how hot our weather has been this week, I took this picture on our patio at 6:30 PM...Sunday Father's Day

Good morning y'all, it's Monday and that means Blue Monday at Smiling
Sally's place...
Today for Blue Monday I'm stretching it a little, it should be know as blueberry Sat. post, but since there is a lot of blue in these pictures, small little blueberries....I'm using it as my Blue Monday post...
Sat. Rissa, her Mom, and I took a road trip to Puckett, MS...a beautiful little town and farm community about 30 miles from Richland, we were headed to....

Hopes Fruit and berry farm to pick blackberries and blueberries.

Isn't this a pretty place, it was nothing but woods in 200, when the Family bought it and cleared land and planted blueberries, apples, peaches and blackberries. They also raise vegetables for the Farmers Market in Jackson, but we enjoy going and picking our own... So we grab our buckets and off we go....
We picked blackberries first and of course I forgot my camera in the car, so when we finished picking we went to the house to get more buckets for the blueberries and I grabbed my camera....
Rissa Mom and Rissa busy picking them sweet berries, Rissa is very good picking, I had trouble keeping up with her....
Enlarge pictures to see the tons of berries on the bushes,
Rissa busy picking

Some how RissaMom, wound up with the camera, ugh, boy was I hot, we went early and got there at 8:00 but by 9:00 it was already 90 degrees and so dry.....

OK, so I had to take a water break, we took frozen bottles of water with us and in less than an hour in the heat they were thawed and hot...we picked 7 lbs each and called it a day....the heat was just too much, even for Rissa. She had to find some shade too.
I can't wait to make blueberry pancakes with fresh home made blueberry syrup for breakfast this morning.

Rissa was enjoying a bottle of cold water while we paid for our berries. We really had a good time and even hit a few yard sales after we left and cooled down some. But that is for a different post.
That is my Blue Monday offerings. I hope you enjoyed them. For more Blue Monday Posts please visit Smiling Sally by clicking here.

  5. Molly! That is awfully hot to be out in that heat even with ice water! Girl, I feel for you. I went out to the store, and I thought I would roast before I got back in the car. It is some kind of hot here, too.

Those blueberries should be worth it. I can see a cobbler in the works! I'd like my piece with vanilla ice cream, please. :-)

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  12. I remember days like that! Now I live where it is barely getting to 60 degrees, well for most of June that is.

  25. My daughter is in grad school at State and she says she doesn't remember it being this hot when we lived there. We lived in Columbus for 15 years and she graduated from the math and science high school there. After her graduation we moved back here to Virginia to take care of my folks and for her to go to William and Mary. We have lovely blueberry farms in Pungo too... I believe they won't be ready until the first of July as it was a bit cooler here this spring. Love those blueberry pancakes.

    Happy Blue Monday.
    Those are fantastic berries .
    Simply wonderful.
Picking berries was always a part of summers when I was growing up than came the jelly ,jam, pie, butter, and ice cream making from all the delicious fruit.
My oh my it has been one hot start to summer.
I am not sure I like it when summertime starts off in the 100's .
I know we will survive we always do ,but somehow it is not as easy to stand the heat as it use to be.
You did take a lot of great photos sweet lady !
Thank you for sharing them .
    Have a wonderful week .
    Take care.
    Hugs
