Vintage Thingies Thursday

Today is VTT over at ColoradoLady's stop by and see all of the great treasures.....
This week I am showing some of my vintage napkins and hankies....
First is a set of 8 large 12" x 12" cream/off white napkins with pink flowers embroidered on them, It does look like machine work rather than hand work...but they just look old....I'm not sure how old these are but I did find them in a Antique Store about 6 yrs ago. I just loved the pattern now they were a little pricey ...lol..all of.....$ 4.00 for the set... couldn't let these pass me by.
The next set of napkins is hand embroidered, and a beautiful trim put around the outside by pulling treads out...This is a set of 6 little tea napkins with pink and green handwork...they measure 8" x 8" and are so delicate...I bought these at a booth some where in TN, when we went on the Longest yard Sale the first time about 5 yrs ago. I don't remember how much but I'm sure it wasn't more than $5.00....I love these and they are stored with my Momma Silverware.
The last set is a real treasure and a big surprise for me. DH and I were in LA. about 9 yrs ago junkin' some where around Amite...when I spied this cute little purse. It is a hand embroidered and hand made bag for little Hankies. It was in a zip lock bag and marked $1.00, so I just figured it was empty. When I paid for it the lady didn't say anything about it...so when I got home and took it out to my pleasant surprise this is what I found, 6 little hankie, 2 are hand embroderied and 1 has a pretty lace hand sewed in the edge of the hankie. 3 are machine Embroderied, but they are all so soft and danty...how great is that..all for $1.00

These 2 are Hand Emborderied the little bird on has a brown stain but I haven't tried to remove it..

You have to look close, at the first one....it is white on white and is machine stitched these next 2 are also machine stitched, but very nice.....
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY VINTAGE THINGIES! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK! FOR MORE WONDERFUL VINTAGE THINGIES VISIT COLORADO LADY

  7. These linens are just beautiful! Do you actually USE the napkins? Whenever I try to use cloth napkins my guests get all weird and don't want to "ruin" them!

  21. Such bargains and beautiful linens. I LOVE vintage linens. I am especially fond of that little birdie hankie. That's something I've never seen on a hankie. Usually flowers! Lovely hankies always take me back to being a little girl with my little black patent purse with the snap clasp. The only things in it were a pretty hankie and some coins for the offering basket.
