Vintage Thingie Thursday

Well ladies I'm giving y'all a break from my Hall's Collection, OHHH NOOOOO, I've not run out of Hall's to show, but I thought to myself, "self don't you think these ladies would like to see something else besides Hall's" and self said "why?, who gets tired of looking at Hall's" and I said "me". End of conversation. Self is off pouting somewhere. So I get to show what I want too.
I'd like to show you another little item I picked up at Wool Worth all those 47 yrs ago when I worked there. It's a mustache mug. Now don't ask me why I bought this, my DH didn't have a mustache, never did and never will. Even though I think a man with a beard is kinda sexy. He can't stand them itchie things, sigh, so he wouldn't grow one....not even for me. Well I just admire them from afar...lol.

I thought it was kinda cute, so I have had it on display in the bath room ever since I brought it home. DH just looked at it and said forget it. Now it's just a collectors item .
I also purchased this shaving mug at the same time, but he used the arosal type shave cream and never used the brush type, so another collectors item.

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY VINTAGE THINGIES! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK! FOR MORE WONDERFUL VINTAGE THINGIES VISIT COLORADO LADY!

  2. I'm so glad you posted this! It's so cute. Last week Beverly posted a shaving mug that she had thought was a moustache mug, and now I can see the difference.

  9. Woolsworth was the best. Love the mustache mug. I was amazed at how much shaving mugs went for at an auction. Big collector's items.

  17. The shaving mug is quite unique - what a clever way to store the soap cake. My dad used to have one of the original Old Spice shaving mugs - wish someone had saved it!

(Oh, by the way, in the second paragraph you typed "Even though a man with a bread is kinda sexy." . . . might wanna change that, lol!)

  19. I remember the "dime" stores and the shaving and mustache cups...guess that shows my age! My hubby is one of those with the beard and mustache (very neatly trimmed I might add) and I probably wouldn't recognize him without them!!

  22. Thanks for visiting my blog...

Here is a very simple recipe for the potato/peanut butter candy.

    POTATO - PEANUT BUTTER CANDY

1 lg. potato, cooked & peeled
    Confectioners' sugar
    Peanut butter

Mash potato with sugar, may take 1 pound or more. Mix until stiff. Sprinkle confectioners' sugar on board. Roll out like dough. Spread with peanut butter. Roll up like jelly roll. Cut in slices.
