Just got to blow off steam

I have not cross stitched in about 15 yrs, so of course in order to complete my redwork I need a hoop and thread. So off I go to Wally World this morning, (as I have stated before I live in a small, small town and WW is about the only place to shop)...so..I head to the crafts dept for my supplies, Nope don't have any such thing...zip, nada...only carry threat for the machines,...what happened to the little one time users like me. They have already cut way back on the material, and painting supplies...just so heart breaking....I guess I'll have to go to Jackson, an hrs drive from here to Hobby Lobby and hope they still carry what I need.

  1. I understand! We are 20 min one way, 15 another to the nearest big store, and that is Walmart. I went for thread-nope (had to get some the next time I went to the Michael's over an hour away), BUT they did have plastic canvas. My Aunt says they are not replacing the fabric and will slowly do away with it all together. Just where are all the quilting ladies supposed to get their stuff without having to drive so far away? GGGRRRR!!! (just a little rant there)

    Lousianna woman?
    Mississippi man??
    LOL:)

  2. Molly,

Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I enjoyed your comment!

You're so right. It seems like so many stores, Walmart included, have less and less from which to choose. While my daughter is at dance, I often stop in Hobby Lobby. I love that place! That's where I had to get my floss for stitching.

I'm saving you to my blogroll!

Have a great rest of the week!

  3. Tell me about it! I felt the exact same way when I went in to get some floss too!! So, yep like you I have to trek miles to Hob Lob for a .50 cent item.....grrrrrrrr. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest...apparently that had been all bottled up!!!

  4. I live in small town USA, like you do I guess. We have WW all around us within a 25 mile radius. Hobby Lobby is 45 miles away, but so worth the trip when we go!
I'd rather live in a small town, but would like to have the amenities of larger town living...like shopping opportunities, Starbuck's, a movie theatre! Our local bowling alley has 6 lanes. That's the size town we are!
Hope you're having a good day! Love your new blog face!

  5. I was talking to one of the employees at Wal-Mart while he was cutting my fabric. He said that Wal-Mart thinks that since the other stores like them don't sell craft stuff, they don't have to. The guy said, "Well, it will give business back to the Mom and Pop stores." I didn't say anything but honestly, it's too bad those stores are out of business now, you know since Wal-Mart ran them off years ago! I'm lucky enough to have Jo-Ann's pretty close to Wal-Mart, though. I just have to learn to make another stop!
