Vintage Thingie Thursday

Today I have more of my vintage Hall dishes. This is part of my HALL'S JEWEL TEA AUTUMN LEAF pattern.
Probably the most famous of Hall's patterns is the "Jewel Tea" or Autumn Leaf. This pattern is extremely collectible, Autumn Leaf was distributed as a premium by the Jewel Tea Company. This pattern was first produced in the 1930's and was discontinued in 1976. Now some peices will sale for up to a thousand dollars. Of course I didn't pay that for any of mine...lol...
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY VINTAGE THINGIES! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK! FOR MORE WONDERFUL VINTAGE THINGIES VISIT COLORADO LADY!

My Memories for Wednesday

I had planned on showing my Vintage hankies on Vintage Thingie Thurs. but decided to use them for Memories Weds.
Mom had to fold and wear these in her pocket when she worked at the Inez Coffee shop, each day the ladies wore a different matching color to give a little life to their white uniforms. I did had a picture of all the ladies all dressed in their uniforms and wearing matching hankies, but have missed placed it, will try to find it for another post.
A little Brookhaven History If you click on the pictures you will get a better view of a grand old lady.....
Here is a picture of the Inez when it was first built, this picture was taken in the early 1900, front view, the Railroad set right across the street and it served as lodging for travelers going to or from New Orleans to Mimphis
This was about 20 yrs later notice the more elegent ...lol...sign on top...it was a Grand old Lady Notice the dirt streets...lol...
This is what she looks like today. She is no longer a Grand Hotel, but was converted to high end apartments and the coffee shop is now a Lunch time only Restaurant. The trains still run but don't need an over night rest stop, when it leaves Memphis it can reach New Orleans in just a few hours...
Here is a picture of Mom all dressed up in her uniform ready to go to work. You can't really see the hankie in her pocket in this picture.

Well I hope you enjoyed my Memories Weds. offering and a little look at my town past and present.
Hope everyone has a great day.

More Redwork...and other stuff

Good Morning ladies, sorry I have been absent for a few days. I have alot of unexpected things going on in my life right down. But I guess we all do at one time or another. I di find out why my Dr cancelled my appointment and isn't back yet. His wife had an emergency open-heart surgery and is still very bad. They are hoping he will be back in the office next week.
Today I have finished another Redwork square, that makes 4 ...lol...boy I'm fast as grease lightening aren't I. Here's a picture of the other 3.
I also found another use for the candle sticks and bowls that I learned how to do from another great blogger. I am always recieving samples of lotions and shampoos and usually just toss them in a drawer and forget about them...well I made this to put them in right on a shelf so I'll remember to use them. After all that's money saved.
Hope y'all have a great day.

Blue Monday

I am running late on my Blue Monday over at Smiling Sally. I will not be able to do the Simple Woman's Day Book today but hope to be back next week.
My picture of something blue this week is my Beautiful Lone Star Quilt. That I and my Husband picked up while in Bird-in Hand, PA. I had wanted a handmade Amish quilt but didn't want to get it from a store or a go between, who would charge twice as much and the Lady who made it wouldn't get the full amount. The second day we were in BIH we were riding around looking at the beautiful country and neat pasures and fields, we pasted a Beautiful white house with a long picket fence that had a sign saying hand made quilts for sale. We stopped and went in and I was
amazed at all the beautiful quilts. Here is the one I picked out.
