Pink Saturday

My friend Beverly of How Sweet The Sound is hosting a PINK SATURDAY. Be sure and check out all the other pretty pink items over at her blog...
Today for my Pink Sat. I'd love to share a little treasure that belonged to my Mom. It was called, I believe a Butterfly scarf. Or that's what Mom called it. Mom was a very classy lady and even though we didn't have much and she worked to support my sisters and I, she always dressed neat, not expensive but nice. She would dress up a plain white blouse with a beautiful scarf or a pair of flaux pearls. She never spent alot but she sure did look good.
This is a scarf that she purchased at Woolworth or Morgan "N" Linsey. in the early 50's. I don't know what material it is made of, but it is so light and airy. She would take a pretty plain brooch and pin it in the middle of the scarf and then pin it to the top buttom of her blouse at the neck. She has also worn it around her pony tail when she was working and needed her hair out of her face. I now keep it on my dresser in the guest bedroom.
Hope you enjoyed looking at my pink offering and will come back.

Friday's Family Foto

My friend, Deborah, hosts Friday's Favorite Family Foto. I hope you enjoy my photos.... Please drop by her blog and see what family photos others have posted!
Last week I chose pictures of my oldest Grandson, This week I have chosen my favorite picture of my youngest Grandson, Connor, he is 11 and all boy. He started life on a little shaky ground, his Mom, had toxemia and they had to do emergency surgery 3 weeks early, plus, Connor was breech...lol...he was ready to hit the ground running and hadn't stop yet...he started out at a mere 5 lbs, but time he was 4 mos old his nickname was Buddha Baby ..lol..he filled out real fast. Here are a few things he loves....and pictures I love...

He was our little happy redhead....
He loves his Jeep...his Daddy found on old WWII jeep and restored it and it will be his when he's old enough to drive.
He loved corn,
He loves helping his Bobby feed the Chickens
He still loves the chickens and gathering eggs
He loves is Bobby and Bobby's old truck
He loves his little Sister
He loves to ride Horses
He loves baseball
He loves his big bull frog that hangs out near their pool, he has always loved running and catching frogs.
He loves to fish, he won the Fishing Rodeo 2 yrs in a row....
He loves hunting with his Dad and then getting on the phone and bragging to his Cousin Keifer that he got the first Buck of the year.

He loves his video games, his WII and his Computer

And he really loves his Jasper...
He is so sweet and is a true Southern country boy, he has that slow country southern drawl and can spin a yarn a mile long. His 1, 2 and 3 grade teachers all wanted to take him home with them so he could tell them his stories...lol..they spent half of the class time listening to him talk and tell his tales, and beleive me he could tell some good ones. He used to tell us he remembered when he was old, along, long time ago...but he stoped talking about that when he was about 3 .....makes you wonder? He is also what you would call and old soul, he can't stand change. When they bought their new car he wanted the old one back.
I hope you enjoyed my little picture story about Connor and the things he loves. And things that make me love him so much.

Vintage Thingie Thursday

It's Thursday and time for Vintage Thingie Thursday again, I'd like to thank Suzanne for hosting this for us.. Visit Suzanne, Coloradolady to see more Vintage Thingies Thursday
First let me say my heart is breaking...sigh...we were not home when my bowls went off. I was still debating weather to bid or not when we left and just knew we'd be home before it went off...wrong...Guess it wasn't meant for me to have them.
Today, I've got a few more Hall's items to share, they are Westinghouse refrigerator bowls from the 50's.
The first one is a yellow bowl that didn't have the lid. I found it at a small booth on the longest yard sale somewhere near Kentucky-Ohio line. It was just sitting on a table with .75 cents on it. I just eased over and picked it up and gave the lady my money. Then finished looking at rest of stuff...well, I didn't want her to see how excited I was..lol

The second one I found in Harrison, Arkansas is the solid yellow one. and it cost I believe about $6.00 The third and my favorite one is the blue bowl with yellow lid. I found this one on EBay and paid &10.00 + shipping. I use these all the time, they are not for looks only.

This is what is stamped on both yellow bowls. I believe the one without a lid would have been a match to the other yellow set.

Slow and easy does it....

I'd like to introduce you to my baby boy Lance, this was taken when he was 1 yr old, the second one his Senior year in High School, 1998, he was voted Mr. Loyd Star and one of the 3 Most Handsome..
When he finished College and went to work at the Hospital, he and his 2 roommates cooked for themselves and they loved to eat...he soon put on a lot of weight. He did lose a little before he got married, but I guess married life agreed with him & his wife too much...lol..she was small when they married, never got real big, but put on more than she wanted too, so they decided to do something about it...they went on weight watchers a year ago and I am so proud of them both, they took it slow and easy. They worked together on it, walking every evening after getting home, they cooked together and make some great weight watchers suppers always try to have enough to take for lunch the next day.

1st picture is made 3 yrs ago, second one was made Christmas...
I say again, I am so proud of them both, they share the work of cooking and cleaning, they both work, she is an MRI Tech in Jackson and he is a Specialities Tech at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Love on Wednesday

http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/
Colorado Lady is hosting Love on Wednesdays every week in February, this being the month of love and all that. Click on her link to see who else is sharin' the love.

I don't beleive there is a truer love than the love between this Brother and Sister. Meet Connor my little redheaded Bath Room statue designer...lol and his little blondheaded horse loving Sister. Connor or Red as we call him is 4 yrs older than Morgan (Moo-Moo) and he has never failed to show how much he loves her. No matter where they go or what they do he is going to look out after his sister. He couldn't stop kissing on her when he was little and never a jealous bone in his body where she was concerned she always came first in his mine. You buy him anything, you'd better have something for her or he'd tell you about it...lol
Here he is when she was 3 weeks old.

He was 7 and she was 3, but you mention a picture he had to find her to get his picture made with her..

He had to protect her...lol...notice his arm...and her hand...

He is now 11 and she is 7, but they still share that strong bond and love. When they first started to Church at their new Church, they attented Bible School and the ladies that where their teachers couldn't help but laugh, they of course where in differnt classes and when the classes passed each other in the hall he'd wave and she'd have that big Morgan grin and wave back, they would greet each other like they hadn't seen each other in a week. I hope he will always be there to protect her.

Sorry this is late had some unexpected problems this morning.

Be still my beating heart

I'm in love
Most of you that have read my VTT posts have come to realize I am totally, completely in love with Hall's collecting. Be it teapots, coffee pots, glove mold, bowls, plate, etc. etc.....
A couple of weeks ago I showed you a large bowl that I inherited from my MIL 20 yrs ago, in the Morning Glory pattern. It was well loved and had been well used. My dear MIL always used it to serve her butter beans, peas or other types of beans in. The kids simply called it the bean bowl. She had used it for years....she had no idea it was a collectable. Well this morning I was trolling Ebay in search of a bowl I needed to complete a set of stack bowls in the White rose pattern. I have the two smaller ones, anyhow can you imagine my heart stopping, excitement when I spied these beauties...I am totally in love and trying to justify to myself, the need to purchase these.
This is a very rare set indeed, usually you fine 1...2...or 3 peices together but RARELY do you find the whole 5 peice set in this condition. Now in a different time, say 6 mos. ago I wouldn't hesitate to bid, but well money is tight and Lord only knows what lies ahead. So I am torn,
Right now they are at $167.50 + shipping of $27.00.
I could call in all favors and Mother's Day is right around the corner...lol...we'll see.
Check them out........
We're headed to Jackson for Dear Hubby's Drs. appointment today, so I'll see y'all tonight, y'all have a blessed filled day.

The Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY Monday 2-24-2009Outside my window...
Today I look out with sleepy eyes over the pasture at a beautiful newborn calf laying beside it’s Momma, the sky is clear blue, the temp is a crisp cool 52 degrees. Birds are darting back and forth to the different feeders.

I am thinking...I just love when our old friend comes by to visit and spend the night, on his way to his childhood home in, Donaldsonville, LA., just hate that we set up all night talking. Now I’m so sleepy. And got to go to town and take care of business, and can‘t go back to bed..

I am thankful for. Life long friends and time spent with them.

From the kitchen...for breakfast it hot coffee and fresh bread with canned figs, for supper not sure have a lot to do today, might go to Cracker Barrel tonight. Or have home made spaghetti sauce put in freezer for such a time. Cook a little spaghetti and sweet tea with fresh bread baked this morning…we’ll see.

I am wearing….navy blue sweats, light blue baggy fleece pull over and socks

I am going…to town to take care of some personal business at the Bank and Court House.
Then maybe a quick trip to the local Thrift Store they put new stuff out on Monday.

I am creating...I am still working on my red work quilt squares, like 1 and I‘m through, then have to start putting them together. Working on candle holders and candy dishes for Easter gifts., And have started painting my chair, got part of the top scene painted, but had to quit for awhile.

I am reading...All the interesting blogs of my new friends

I am hoping...That my Hubby's Family's Estate business gets settled soon, I’m tried of fooling with it. It’s times like this when a persons true nature comes out. How sad that 3 Brothers can be so different.

I am hearing...Fox News on TV, and my Hubby and the old Coon-ass talking ninety miles an hour.

Around the house...clothes need washing, floors need sweeping and dishes need washing, but they might have to wait till tomorrow…NOT…

One of my favorite things...visiting with old friends and laughing over past memories of our kids growing up together.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Taking care of Business in town today, tomorrow going to Jackson with Hubby for his Drs appointment. Don’t know for the rest of the week, we’ll just be surprised…..

Here is picture thought I am sharing
About 6 mos ago my 11 yr old Grandson was told to take his shower. His daddy walked in the bathroom to make sure he was in the shower, he likes to play alot, most boys do...lol...this is what he saw when he walked in the door. He'd taken his clothes off and had laid them out like this...lol..the boy ain't right...lol...

Hope you have a great day. don't forget to check out the other daybooks for today.

Blue Monday

Hi y'all it's Blue Monday again, I so love Blue Monday, since blue is my favorite color. I'd like to show you today some paintings that I have done with blue in them...

This is a 11" x 14" canvas, of a little lady and her Chickens on the Farm, one of my favorite subjects. I enjoyed painting this one.

This is an 8" x10" canvas of my Great Nephew I did for his Granny, to give his Momma for her Birthday
this is another 11" x 14" canvas painting of a figurine that I found at Hobby Lobby, I sketched it off and painted it. My Neightbor bought it for her Grandson for Christmas, to go in his western decorated Bedroom. So I gave him the figurine to go with it.

This is an 11" x 14" canvas of a picture I found in a book. I just love Santas and him holding Rabbits just stole my heart. This was suppose to be for me, but I got talked into selling it.
I painted this Santa and Rooster on an 12" x 12" canvas, did I mention next to Roosters I love Santas best of all....lol...I'm just a kid at heart.
This is a 10" x 10" canvas that I used a pattern by Trish McMurry to paint.
I hope you enjoyed these blue items today.
Please be sure and check out http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ for more Blue Monday pictures.

Candle sticks and cut glass bowls make me very happy

Friday morning before I left for my suppose to be Drs. appointment, I check out The Pickled Pepper Patch along with some of my other favorite blogs, anyhow I was just smitted by the Under 5- project she was showing...... check it out at .http://charsethman.blogspot.com/2009/02/5-under-friday.html
So when we found out I didn't have an appointment after all...we went to a couple of thrift shops before going to McComb to eat, didn't find much in Tylertown, so we headed to McComb. I decided to check out the Outreach Ministries in McComb and they had everything in the store 1/2 off. Yeaaaa my kind of sale. I found several glass plates and a pair of glass candle sticks and a brass candle stick
I used one of the candle sticks and glued this little bread and butter plate on top. I paid $.50 for the pair of candles sticks and $3 for the plate. It was a little more than I really wanted to pay, but I really wanted it. And it still only cost $3.25 to make, and it is big enough to serve cookies or brownies or fudge on.

The first one was .49. And the other 2 cost .25 cents.

The tall candle stick cost .50.

This is just a couple of ideas I'm thinking about, haven't glued them yet. Need to pick up a couple of candles and I have plenty of ribbon, just need to decide color of candle.
My next major project is to redo my chest of drawers. Some one spilled something on it when I was laid up from my knee surgeries. And I didn't know it. This is in the spare bed room and I didn't come in here for a few months. what ever it was messed up my new paint job. I wasn't aware of much back then but my pain...and those 3 times a day drips. Thank the good Lord that time has passed. I'm thinking about painting it black with a natural top?????
