Greenwood Plantation

Our 3 boys gave Charles and I a 2 night stay at a bed and Breakfast in St. Francisville, LA. for our 50th Wedding Anniversary, We had planned to use it in Oct, well, that didn't work out because of Charles Kidney surgery. Monday we decided to go and take a few days off before Christmas to rest from all the stress and worry of his illness. We stayed at a lovely Bed and Breakfast called Butler Greenwood and really enjoyed touring several plantations in the area.

I have made a slide show of one of these Plantations..Greenwood Plantation..

A little back ground

Greenwood was built in 1830 by William Ruffin Barrow from Highland Plantation. The style of the house was Greek Revival designed by famed architect James Hammon Coulter. It set in the middle of 12,000 acres. Friends were tended by over 750 slaves. Barrow's also operated his own sugar and syrup mills.

During the Civil war the house was used as a hospital by the Northern troops. Barrows died in 1864 and the home, what was left after the Northern soldiers destroyed all the crops, out buildings and the mills, was sold to Capt John A Stevenson a New Orleans Ship builder. In 1915 the home and surrounding grounds was sold to Frank & Naomi Fisher Percy who lived and raised a large family there until it burnt to the ground in a thunderstorm in 1960.

Nothing was left but the 28 Doric columns and some chimneys, it remained like this for nearly 10 yrs until 1969 when new owners spent 15 yrs rebuilding it to it's former beautiful. It was the sight of the Movie North & South.

Susan's Shop Model Audition 2012

I am so excited tonight. About 3 weeks ago a very popular local Dress shop that specializes in Prom & formal wear had a Model Audition 2012 contest. The will be 3 stages, the first being Photogenic, the winners were announced today, out of 165 contestants they narrowed the field to 68. The next stage will be posted Weds. Both of my beautiful girls made it through to the 2d round. How excited this that.
I found out about the contest a couple of weeks ago and asked the girls & their parents, if they would like to enter and they did. Neither one thought they would go past 1 level but thought it would be fun to try. There were girls of all ages, but the teen girls where so beautiful and alot of them had modeled before..thus the reason they didn't think it would amount to anything.

During Thanksgiving Break I was fortunate enough to have both my girls for the week. I was shocked when the Rissa Kat asked me to take some pictures of her modeling..now you got to realize this is the child that hides when we bring the camera out. So of course I was delighted to take as many as they wanted..here are a few..the little darker hair one is Rissa and she is 11, the long legged blond is my little smiley she is 10.
They looked so grown I almost cried...
When we started out their hair was so curly and pretty but the wind was crazy that day...blowing every direction and really messed it up...

Middle Boy and his Family will not be with us this Christmas they will be spending the week in TN with Mindy's family so I made their Family pictures Thanksgiving while they were here.

The newest addition to the family is Tupac the Rat Terrier, Keifer received him as a gift from his Uncle 3 weeks after the wreck and He will tell you in a heart beat that little feller helped him make it through the hard times. He is a special member of the family truly loved by a cat loving family..lol..

I have been doing some photos of my Grands and usually it's just the girls, but this time I wanted to do some good shots of my youngerst Grandson. He is growing up so fast and will soon be 15. Where has the time gone? Morgan is 10 but she is already talking about being a model..so sweet, I would never discourage her in her dreams..we never know what the future holds. Christmas is one the way

Well here it is almost Christmas and as usual I am running behind decorating. Since Charles is still recovering from Kidney surgery, he can't help put up lights outside this year. Well I sure can't get on that ladder so what do I do? I cut back, that's what! I am going to decorate the porch and put up my tree and be happy. I found this cute snow man wreath pattern on Pinterest and decided to try to make it. Simple..of course not. In this little one store town I couldn't find 3 different size vine wreaths, found 2 but needed a larger one for the bottom. What to do, what to do? I use good ole craft technology I went out side cut my grape vine back and Made one. I think it turned out good.

Back in Sept. Richland, MS. where my middle boy and his family live had Richland in the park Day, it was alot of fun. Games, lawn mower races, craft & food vendors and a live music show. My little Rissa, who by the way isn't so little any more, she just turned 11. Where has the time gone...anyway I digress, plays in the String (all violin) band.
Here are some pictures I took of their performance...she is growing into a beautiful little lady.

We will be going back to the Dr tomorrow for Charles to have staples removed and find out what the biopsy showed. Please say a small pray that it will be benign.

It's been awhile and my how things change

I have planned on making a post earlier, but it seems Blogger has changed and it has taking awhile to figure it out. Of course it doesn't support my browser anymore so had to change to Google Chrome...
I know it has been awhile since I've posted and so much has happen in my life and I'm sure in your's too.
Keifer finally returned to work in June and is doing quite well. He will be headed to Pharmacy School at Ole Miss in Aug.
Charles and I celebrated 50 yrs of Marriage on Aug 8, 2011. Our Children honored our wish and we had just a small family get together.

Charles had a bad spell with his stomach 3 weeks ago and I had to take him to the Emergency room, turns out it was his pancreas, we were so blessed, because when they did the CT on his stomach they found a large tumor on his right kidney, He had to have his kidney removed because there was no way to remove the tumor and make sure they got all of the growth. I believe God had his hand in finding the tumor because Dr could find no reason for him to have pancreaitis. I had an appointment with Dr Harold Blalock for a bladder scope the very day that his tumor was found, but of course I had cancelled it because he was in hospital. After we were informed of the tumor Dr Blalock's nurse called to reschedule my appointment and when I explained about Charles she set him up with an appointment with me the next Wed. 1 week later he was in hospital having kidney removed, everything just fell into place boom, boom boom, Dr Blalock is the best kidney surgeon in the South. Again God had his hand in it, because we were so lucky to get him, he usually takes most of the months of Oct, Nov & Dec off to go deer hunting and is extremely hard to get. Charles has been home for 3 days and is having a hard time, hurting..to be expected and sick to his stomach. We go back for check up and have staples removed Fri and also find out about the pathology report. Please keep him in your prayers that it is benign.
We have a new family member and she is spoiled rotten already, she is an 8 mo old Rat Terrier, we got Sassy when she was 5 weeks old and Charles and I both fell in love..lol..

She is a little beggar when it comes to food.

Hello Dear Friends

Good Evening all, I'm so sorry I've been away so long, I want to thank all of my sweet friends who have emailed and written asking about Keifer. As of right now things are progressing slowly with him, he had an infection around a couple of his staples the week he came home and had to go back to the Dr. for antibotics, but he is doing alot better now. He actually got out Friday night and walked with his girl friend around the neighborhood, he gets tired so easy and hurts really bad when he stays up to long.. It doesn't seem like it has been 4 weeks since his wreck. I know it does to him, and he is slowly remembering more about that night.
We went to see him this past week and Connor went with us. Here are some pictures we took, his cuts and scraps are starting to heal finally. He will be wearing his brace for several more months. His ribs, sternum, back and were he had emergency surgery will take a while to heal.

Thank you so much for keeping him in your prayers. We know that the prayers from our friends and us is what has kept him going. He has truly been bless, his Boss told him that if it took a year for him to get back on his feet his job will be waiting and Hinds Community College is working with him so he doesn't loss this semester and his money.

Charles is doing alot better, he is actually doing what the Dr tells him to and his sugar and blood pressure are both coming down.

And me I'm just holding on,... as the little saying goes, when you run out of rope tie a knot and hold on...lol..so I'm holding on to a double knot....lol..

Through the broken ribs and pain, I'm still breathin'. Blessed with wonderful friends and family. Happy to still be here with you guys. I was given a second chance, and will be living life to the fullest through him.

I didn't realize how truly Blessed we were till I saw these pictures, he was not only spared, but the Lord placed the tree in the right place or the people in the trailer could have been hurt too..

You can see where he hit the tree up high. The bank that he flew off of was even with the mark on the tree. He hit loose gravel and lost it, The trailer and fence where just ft away from the road.

look at the windshield on the drivers side...that is a part of the board fence that stuck through the window.

The only explanation of him surviving this accident and doing well enough to go home so soon, is God has other plans for him. We are very Blessed to have him still with us.

Another update

Praise God Keifer is getting to come home today. Still has along road ahead and needs someone with him 24/7. But he is doing well enough to finish his recovery at home where he is comfortable.
In home care will come every other day for PT. His Dad has taken a week or 2 off and his Sweet girl friend Hannah who hasn't left his side, will be sleeping on a cot by his bed at night. And of Course you know I'll be there till they run me home...lol.
Thank you so much for your prayers and concern. Please continue to keep him in your prayers he has along hard road ahead.

Update on Keifer

Just an up date on Keifer, we have been so blessed with our Grandson, The picture of him and his little Sister is so special to me now. When I made it I didn't think too much of the window behind them.. my focus was just on the kids, but after his wreck I realize it was a message from God that he is always there and he will take care of them.

It is truly a miracle that he is here and doing so well, even the Drs and Nurses can't believe it. They lost him in the ambulance and also in the ER. But God sent him back each time.

He is awake and talking, he still doesn't remember the wreck only the officer (his best friend) telling him to "hold on Keifer, OMG, Keifer don't move, OMG, Keifer stay with us Buddy" and the intense burning in his stomach.

The update is wonderful...They took the neck brace off yesterday and removed the nose tube and the drain tube from his stomach and also removed his catheter. They fitted him with a back brace for the 2 vertebra and his 6 ribs will have to heal on their own. They hope to get him up and walking today. He is in alot of pain and still really weak but he is A LIVE.

He is worried about his car, but it is gone nothing on it but the drivers door and seat was salvageable, but as his Daddy said who cares it's just a piece of metal it can be replace our sweet boy can't. These little sports "match box" cars are nothing but death traps that fold up like paper when you hit anything.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for your sweet notes and your Prayers, Keifer has along way to go yet, but he has come along way already.

God is good and Keifer is a real testamony to his love and grace.

I am stopping by to ask all my blogging friends to please keep my sweet Grandson Keifer in your prayers, We came so close to losing him last night, He was in a bad car wreck about 11:30 last night, he was on his way home and only 2 miles away when he hit some loose gravel and lost control flipping his car and hitting a huge pine tree. His blood pressure dropped so low they almost lost him before they could do surgery to remove his ruptured spleen, They had to give him blood before they could do surgery. He has 6 broke ribs, 2 fractures on each of his L3 & L4 vertebrae, a large piece of the bone is broke off and missing in his right hip socket, plus numerous other cuts & bruises. Please pray for him, He is in so much pain..and it is going to be along hard road for him.

We are hoping there are no more breaks or fractures that they haven't found yet because they can not move him to x-ray his real good.

The only part of his car not even scratched or bent was the drivers door and the drivers seat. He doesn't remember what happened but a lady that saw it and called the law said that he crawled out of the drivers window and collapsed in the ditch, his best friend was the responding Police Officer and when he saw Keifer he just knew he wasn't going to make it.

.From the look of his car God was sitting with him and held him in his arms, He got him out of that car there is just no other explanation for his survival.

He is such a sweet, caring and loving child, We have been overwhelmed and feel so blessed by all of the people, teens and adults from our town and from Jackson who have come to the hospital, even though they know they probably can't get in to see him, texted or called just to let us know they are there and love him. Baby Girl is really taking it hard, she is so close to her Bubba..

My dear friends, I have been contemplating this decision for awhile and it is with heavy heart that I write. For sometime now my heart just hasn't been in my blog. There is so much going on in my life that I have to struggle to make a post daily or even every other day, sometimes I have to struggle just to get out of bed and keep going. It not fair to you my fellow bloggers that I can't make it around to read your post.
DH has had some major health issues lately and if he is to get well the Dr says he must make some major life style changes (food) that man loves to eat.. I feel my time needs to be spent with him and making sure he is taken care of.
I love you all and will try to stop by and visit as often as I can.
I will continue to post on my 365 project blog for all I have to do is post a picture a day. Please drop by to check out my picture of the day and leave a comment if you like.

Tuesday my Sister and I went to the Spring Pilgrimage in Natchez..Natchez is located on the Mississippi River and was first settled by the French in 1700's. You can learn more about this beautiful old town by clicking here
We were able to tour 2 beautiful homes..... The Elgin ca. 1792, and the Green Leaves ca.1832. The slide show is of pictures I made at Elgin, the home's owner, Mrs. William Calhoun the lady standing on the front porch, graciously allowed me to take pictures inside and out. I was not allowed to take pictures inside the Green Leaves but did get some out side the home, they are not in this video..I will be showing them on a later post.
I am so happy that so many of the older families kept their homes and have allowed us to walk back in time. Elgin was so beautiful, it is surround by 25 acres of informal gradens covered in blooming Azelias, camilias, wistera and many other scrubs that were in bloom, the air was filled with heavenly smells, the wind was blowing, the birds were singing and there was no traffic sounds at all. It was like stepping back in time. Hope you enjoy.
I know I did, It made me proud that I was born and raised in Dixie.
And that is my Simple Pleasure for today, the simple pleasure of being able to relive the days of the Beautiful simple life.....

Tuesday Show and Tail..learning to milk...

It's time for Show and Tail Tuesday over at Angela's place West Virgina Treasures stop by and check out her wonderful Meme about animals...
And guess what I'm not going to talk about my silly little dog today..I let her have a week to rest...lol..and didn't chase her with my camera.

Last Fri Baby Girl and I went to a friends horse ranch, and BG got to ride horses, and also got to learn to milk, she was so excited...Donna the lady who owns the Ranch Graduated with my oldest son and has always loved horse and said that one day she'd own her own place and she sure did...she is very patient and kind to little ones, and teaches them what to do and why.

After they rode awhile, (I was following on the 4 wheeler) she asked BG if she would like to milk a cow, oh my Lord, did she say yes so fast Donna had to laugh..so we headed to 1 of the 4 barns on the place..

and this is what greeted us, aren't they the cutest things. The cute little girl is Donna's Granddaughter she's 3 and has been riding since she was 1 yr old..

Then BG tried on here own.

They even let her taste the milk, ..lol..she didn't like it, said she preferred store bought

The silly dog waited his turn for the milk to be squirted into his mouth...

If you look close you'll see a stream of milk and Donna's GD caught it in her mouth..lol..she was such a little growny thing.

one of the other dogs, she had 6, waiting patiently for us to start the ride again...

Uh-Oh the I stepped in crap look..oh well, things like that happen on a farm..lol..but City girl didn't like it...

She was wanting to take it home...

Then they all said good-bye to the cows and moved on...it was hard for little bit to climb up on the horse, her legs was just a little to short, but she was determined to do it alone.

Well that's about it for tonight, I would love to return to the Ranch one day soon and take MoMo as she also loves horses. She was in Fl this past week for Spring Break and didn't get to go with us.

Blue Monday & Marco Monday

It's Monday again folks can you believe it, this past week has just flown by and has been sure a busy one for me, Monday was my grocery shopping day and it usually takes me several hours as I have started couponing and have several places to go. Then Monday evening Middle Boy brought Rissa down to spend the week for Spring break. Tuesday She and I went shopping and then did a little junkin'. Wednesday she and I had a photo shot at different spots in Down Town Brookhaven,

Even though I took well over 100 pictures I won't bore you, but with my 2 favorite ones..

This was my favorite of all the shots I took, She looks so much older than she really is, but then she has always acted older than she is.
Later that evening, I met a friend of mine who had asked me to take pictures of her 2 children, here are a few of the ones I did for her that I like, it was Lane her son's 13 th Birthday...

We spend all evening in town and I was exhausted. Thurs morning around 6 o'clock my DH woke me up and asked me to take him to the emergency room, his head was busting and his blood pressure went sky high, they worked for 5 hrs trying to get it stabilized and finally around 1 o'clock we left with another new blood pressure pill and instructions to go see our Dr who in turn made him an appointment in Jackson with a Specialist. When the Hospital ran his CT scan they found something they didn't like. He has been resting and is doing good, he also decided it was time for him to take their advice and cut back on his food intake. Next week will be spent in DR offices..sigh..BUT, If all goes well I will go to the Natchez Pilgrimage Tues. in between Dr visits.
Fri. I took Rissa to a friend's Horse Ranch to ride for a little while, NO, I didn't ride horses but I did follow them on the 4 wheeler and we had 3 hrs of a beautiful fun filled but tiring day...

She had so much fun riding, but more about that in another post. Last night was the night of the supermoon, so I was headed out side to take a picture when I noticed something on the door..awww, isn't he cute?

and yes I did get a shot of the moon..it was just beautiful...

I am going to join Blue Monday and Marco Monday..Hope you noticed the blue door and the blue sky and jeans in the riding pictures..my Marco picture is the frog and the moon. I think I got kinda up close and personal with them both.

I guess you are going to say "not that silly little dog again, but I can't help it she's so funny at times. DH calls her the Ice Princess, cause she just thinks she's too good to have her picture made and just doesn't want you bothering her when she is stretched out in her special sun beam...lol..Last week I found her laying on the rug against her momma's shoes, with her Buddy laying on the other side of the door soaking up the rays. When I got my camera ...well just look at her reaction..silly girl

Blue Monday and Marco Monday..Spring in the South

Today I am combining 2 of my favorite meme's Blue Monday over at Smiling Sally's and Marco Monday at Lisa's Chaos...

I know that part of our country is still having snow and cold weather, but it is so beautiful down here in the South right now and I am enjoying every minute of it. Yes we do have some beautiful weather, warm sunshine, slight breeze, air filled with the smell of so many different fragrences, from the fresh mowed grass to the Sweet olive trees, BUT it will turn summer before you know it. That is the curse of the deep south 3 week Springs, 3-4 week winters and the rest hot steamy Summers. Oh how I love the South...lol..

Guess you are saying what does this have to do with Blue Monday or Marco Monday...I'd say everything..during our Spring the flowers really strut their stuff. And with out God's clear blue sky they wouldn't look as beautiful..hope you enjoy some of my flowers I snapped this week.

Even the Azelias are started to bloom out, now Dear friends, when that happens is when the beauty of the South really shines through, it is an amazing sight. I will try to post pictures of the area and I know Janie is wating for that also. Even the bubble bees celebrate.
Well I know y'all are getting tired of my flower and bird pictures and I wanted to let you know in the near future my Sis and I will again be traveling to the Natchez Pilgrimage (check it out) and I will be posting about it when we get back...

This morning I got up early as I always do, (old habits are hard to break) and walked into my kitchen to make my coffee and come visit with you, my friends.
I have my Surprise flower (my orchid) sitting in my kitchen window and the morning sun was just beautiful shining through the bright yellow petals. Well you know where this is going..:-), yes I grabbed my camera and took pictures, the orchid framed by the window and the sun streaming in was a perfect picture. To the human eye it was perfect, but looking though the eye of the camera, it wasn't, all the little imperfections like the dirty window, all the dirt and grim showed up, even as the beautiful light of the sun highlighted the beauty of the orchid so too did it highlight the imperfections of the surrounding window.

It is also true with our lives, to the human eye so many of our lives are picture perfect, but when the camera of God shines on our lives, he sees all our little flaws and sins. We may hide them from the rest of the world, but we can not hide them from him. As photoshop would be the saving grace for my pictures, God is the saving Grace for our lives, for only he can take our lives and make them picture perfect. Doesn't God's love shine through to us, no matter how dirty or unattractive our lives or our world may be? If we open our hearts and lives to him, doesn't he take away all the dirt and grime to show the world our true inner beauty? Doesn't his love, clean up our flawed, sin filled lives, just as photoshop cleans up our flawed pictures?

Several days ago Janie posted pictures of her beautiful Loropetalum bushes, they were so lovely. I just had to check mine out. About 1 1/2 years ago we had a new roof put on and I was just heart broken cause the guy who was moving the dump truck around the house to throw the old shingles in, ran over the only bush that I had. It was planted to cover the Heat and Cooling unit. It's a wonder he did hit the unit too.. I was furious, took all my will power not to say anything..., but DH said, don't worry it will come back. Well he was right ( as bad as I hate to admit it) here are a few pictures I took this morning. When it was hit it was almost as tall as the house and not very thick. I admit I was going to thin it and cut it shorter, BUT not that short...isn't it beautiful now?...

I am loving this beautiful weather..I even had a little visitor come up to the window this morning, then ran to the park bench in my yard and sit there as if to say "Good Morning, want to take my picture? I'll pose"

Most everyone that reads my blog, know that about a year & 1/2 or so ago, I bought a new camera, not just a point and shot but a "takes a genius to operate kind"..lol..which I'm not. And a monster was born, I have to give credit to Janie over at Southern Lagniappe for getting me interested in taking pictures. If you've never stopped by her blog check it out. You will be amazed at her talent.
With that being said, that is my today's Simple Pleasure, the wonderful friends I have made since I started blogging, the pleasure of sitting down with a cup of coffee first thing every morning and reading my new friends blogs, friends I'd never met if not for blogging. Some I know I will never met except at the computer every morning. But from each and everyone I have learned something new.

Ramona at The Japanese Redneck, who makes me laugh with her cute picture of her cats and their playful antics and pictures of her beautiful horses.
Al over at Al's Photography, his views and pictures of our Western States will take your breath away and he allows me to travel with him in my mind to places I may never get to see again.

Sally over at. Smiling Sally I have really enjoyed my Monday's spend checking out all the blues there are out there..
I don't want anyone to think cause I didn't list them they are less important..all my friends are important and I learn from them all, Corgi Mom, Counting my Blessings, Home in the Hollow, Lawn Tea, West Virgina Treasures, Corgi Dog News, the list goes on and on. I would be here all day if I listed everyone and the joy they bring me

Show and Tail Tuesday..Oh No he didn't

OK first let me say I had my Eye Dr appointment yesterday and got some good news and some bad..Good news....first even though I do have cataracts, they are not causing enough problems to warrent surgery yet. The bad news is though I have a problem that is quite common, my psoriasis is causing it too be more severe than normal. He said my eyes look like very course sand paper and that I do not make my own tears...so I will have to use drops at least 12-15 times aday and use a sauve every morning and night..Lord how I hate to follow a routine everyday like that. BUT I thank our Dear Lord that it is not any worse than that. And that it can be treated by simply doing all of this. I will still have times when the light and wind cause me to have to back away from the computer or shape light sources but at least it is not totally sight threatening. SO WE MOVE ALONG AND CONTINUE WITH LIFE.....

Today I have a little story to tell in pictures, last week I was sitting at my favorite spot, my bedroom window over looking the pasture and my bird feeder when I noticed a single little Dove trying to eat seed from the ground under the feeder, I say trying cause poor thing was met with a hail of squalks and flapping wings...

I have counted as many as 20 Red Bird on this side of the yard in the big tree and around the feeder, they really won't let any other birds get near the feeder any more. They are so mean, pretty but mean...lol..they even show me disrespect when they catch me watching them..lol..I took this set of pictures right after watching them run the Dove off, one female noticed me watching them and just stared at me, then she chripped to the male who was setting on the feeder pole..watch what he did to me..."oh no he didn't"

LOL, Momma bird forgot to tell him you don't disrespect the hand that feeds you.

Today I'm joining Smiling Sally for Blue Monday..please join her here for more BLUES. 2 weeks ago, I told you about Baby girl being Baptized and having her first Holy Communion..Well our whole family was there to celebrate with her...and several of us wore Blue..

After the service was over, the whole family and Baby Girl's God Parents went to a Restaurant that Baby Girl picked out, ..An Italian place called BRAVO!, there were 19 of us. Thank Goodness Mindy had called in advance and let them know we were coming, we still had to wait 35 minutes for an area big enough for us all.

I just loved this shot, Redman loved the flavored oil with his bread or as Keifer said, he loved a little bread with his oil..lol..that's all he ate, look at Keifer's expression as he is checking him out (notice the beautiful BLUE shirt, Redman had on)

Redman's Mom and Dad was also checking him out..Baby Girl's God Father was wearing a nice blue shirt

Baby Boy and TT also had on Blue..it was still a little nippy so TT had on a denim jacket over her blue dress.

and last but not least, really not least..is DH and I, I was also wearing blue..you can tell DH was really excited about having his picture made or could it be he was getting hungry,

we got there at 12:30 and it was 2:45 before we were served our lunch...it was a nice place and the food was very good, for the price it should have been, but the serve was extremely slow. Our waiter was fantastic. All in all we had a wonderful time just laughing and sharing the evening with family and good friends and it was the perfect end to a very Special day for our Baby Girl...

Today my post is about no natural shadow or shade, but shadow made by love and friendship.
Sat a week ago I went to Richland, to watch Baby Girl play soccer, the sun was intense and had my eyes really blurry and hurting, so since I couldn't see the screen of my camera I simply located BG on the field, pointed in that direction and clicked..lol..not sure of exactly what pictures I would come up with. When I looked at them on the computer I was very surprised and pleased with the wonderful pictures I got.
To be March, it was extremely hot that day and they played at 12:00 noon, there was little to no shade on the Soccer Field and after running up and down the field the little ones where extremely hot. I was drawn to these 2 pictures, how lucky my little girl was to have such a sweet friend...this child saw her friend setting in the heat and bright sun, and she stood and held the umbrella over BG's head ....

But isn't God like that to us, when he sees us standing in the heat of hardship and striff, when we need the comfort of his shade, doesn't he stand and hold the umberella of love and protection over us.

Simple Pleasures Thursday

Today I am joining A Collection of this and That for Simple Pleasures Thursday.

Today as I was thinking about all my simple pleasures, 1 can to mind, that I feel I have taken for granted, maybe not really taken for granted but always felt it would be here, that is the simple pleasure of sight. As you know I am having problems with mine. Some days it is good others it is not so good and I worry what will I do if I can't see the beauty God has placed around me. I know he will provide and I will be fine but I pray I will never lose the ablitiy to capture his beauty with my camera.

So today my simple pleasure is the pleasure of seeing God's beautiful world and capturing it on film for others to enjoy.

First I'd like to say I am so sorry I've not been able to post or visit as much as usual, but I am having trouble with my eyes again. I know the one's of you who follow my blog remembers I have had several attacks of Staph in my eyes in the last few months. This past week and week-end it has gotten worse and even the slightest light or straining causes a lot of pain. I have moments when it doesn't hurt and of course instead of letting them rest, I try to take pictures or blog...sigh.. I just never learn, but I do have an appointment with a Ophthalologist on the 10th of March..
I managed to take some pictures this morning of our Bradford Pears..and wanted to share...

One morning last week, I'm not sure what day, maybe Weds or Thurs. I decided to check out the fog, It's been so foggy every morning here for the last week. I wanted to see how bad it was in the hollow beside the house. I am always so worried about the kids headed to Co-Lin they just don't understand you've got to SLOW down in fog...we have so many wrecks every year because of the fog up here. But now I'm getting off subject..old age causes my mind to wonder...lol.
Any how on this particular morning when I raised the blinds I noticed there was a bird setting on the feeder that didn't move, usually they fly away, but she just set there, I was amazed, so I grabbed my camera and starting snapping pictures. She sat there for a good 20 minutes after I opened the blinds..

Maybe if I get a little closer?

OK what about now?....She's Sleeping, I've never seen one sleep hanging onto the side of a wire feeder. DH wondered if maybe she was sick..I hope she was just tired, but she did sit awfully still for along time.

Levi finally came out of the pasture and it scared her and she flew off into the fog. I hope she was ok.
The fog sure was heavy this morning...again, but no bird on the feeder. Just a calf in the pasture

Blue Monday and a Special Day

I'm late again, it seems like I am always busy and can't find time to get on here and blog and visit my friends..I miss you all when I don't get to stop by.

Yesterday was a very Special Day in the life of my Marrisa.
Let me start at the beginning, My family is Baptist, as is my DH's. When middle son, met his wife She was born and raised a Catholic, but neither one was totally devout in either one, so when Marissa was born they knew they would have to make a choice and visited around to different Churches, but when they went to St. Jude's in Pearl, they knew they had found their home. Middle Boy converted and had his first communion 4 yrs ago and yesterday our Sweet Baby Girl was Baptized and celebrated her first Communion..we were so proud of her. Our whole family, older son, his wife and 2 kids, Baby Boy and his wife and DH and I went to Richland to celebrate with her. Her Granny from TN even came down. She choose a private Baptising with just her family, It was a beautiful Service and we remained for her First Communion. Then all went out to eat lunch..Her God-Parents and their 2 Grands went with us so all in all there was 17 in the group.

As most of you know I live between the 2 small towns of Brookhaven on the south and Wesson on the north, Tues. my Sis and I had lunch in Wesson at a Bed and Breakfast that was once one of the old Mill Houses from Wesson's Golden age...here is a little info about the History of Wesson...This was a huge plant, I would have loved to been around to see this splend sight.

The Town of Wesson, Mississippi, was founded in 1864, during the Civil War, by Col. James Madison Wesson. Having lost his mills at Bankston, Mississippi, Wesson relocated to the town that now bears his name. There he built the Mississippi Manufacturing company which produce a fine quality cotton fabric. In 1871 he sold the mill to Captain William Oliver and Mr. John T. Hardy who renamed it the Mississippi Mills. The mills became famous for the quality of cotton fabric produced which was dubbed "Mississippi silk" at the centennial celebration of 1876. A product of the industrial revolution Wesson, Mississippi, and the mills located there, began to utilize the new technology of the rapidly changing age. One year after Thomas Edison perfected the light bulb the Mississippi Mills put them to use. It was said that passengers on the evening train from New Orleans to Memphis would rush to the windows when passing through Wesson in order to see the marvelous lights.
This prosperity, however, came to an end after the death of Captain Oliver in 1891. Financial difficulties followed by the economic "Panic of 1893", family conflict, and labor disputes caused the mills to fall into receivership in the early 1900's. finally they were dismantled and sold for scrap during the First World War.
Wesson is a town with a glorious past, an outstanding present, and a promising future. In its transition from a milling town which produced the best material in the world, to an education town with a community college which ranks at the top scholastically, Wesson is unique. The first public school in Wesson was built in 1875, and the community college was added in 1928. Statistics show that the town is "on the move" with creativity, ingenuity, dedications that exists in the Copiah County town of Wesson.

In 1889 a new School was built in Wesson and it was simply called the Wesson School, it housed the 1-12 grades. It was built in the Romanesque style of the Mississippi Mills.. While in Wesson I dropped by the old school and took some pictures..it is a beautiful place...

I tried to find more info about the school but was not able to find out very much more, I did find this picture of the 1909 class. You can see it is taken on the front steps and they still look the same after 100 yrs.

Simple Pleasures Thurday

Oh my, has my week been busy, Sorry I didn't get to drop by yesterday but to day I'm joining Simple pleasures over at A Collection of this and that...a little late......Click on picture above to join or check us out.

One of my favorite simple pleasures is, as I said last week spending time with my Sister. But one of the best pleasures is sharing time with her at a wonderful Restaurant in Wesson called the Porches, it is located in an old home from the golden years of Wesson. It was built in 1885 and has been made into a bed and breakfast, and also a Restaurant. We spend some time there Tuesday while we were out junkin'.

The pictures I got aren't to good. I forgot my camera and had to use my phone..but that's alright just another simple pleasure...Sis trying to decide what she wants to eat....

This is what greets you at the front door. There is one on each side..

This is where the sweet lady greets you and then tells you to sit where ever you want to..

It was so beautiful we decided to skip the indoor room and set on the large back porch, it is the shape of a square and has a walk down court yard in the middle..

It doesn't look to good right how but this Spring and Summer is is a wonder land of flowers...
and every table had white table cloth, and a red rose to welcome their guest

I just got to tell you the tale of ole Sneaky snake, no, no it's not a real snake so don't start clicking off...lol..it's our almost pet squirrel, well not really a pet. But he does stay close to the house cause he also loves to steal Levi's dog food, when he can. That is why DH calls him Sneaky snake cause he's always sneaking around. Well this morning I was sitting at the computer when I saw him slipping around the edge of the flower bed, no biggy I know he hides his acorns in the brick sometimes and when he gets hungry he sneaks up and digs one out..like this...

but today I noticed him doing something he'd never done before or at least while I was around...

See he is sneaking up slowly hiding in my flower pot and looking around, bet you know where he is going...

Yep, he's going for it, and boy did he fly, I didn't even get a shot he was moving so fast..made it

even the birds were watching...and not to happy...

He was just sitting there eating away like he owned the place, when DH walked in and said well now old Sneaky Snake has learned a bad habit I'm going to have to fix that feeder and then knocked on the window

What was that??????

and Sneaky was gone like a flash

There he goes like a bolt of lightening...
But I'm not worried, like Arnold says, "He'll be back"

It has been on again off again rain/sunshine for nearly 2 weeks here in Central Mississippi, We finally got several days of beautiful sunshine and I have been enjoying watching my feathered friends scurrying around looking for food before the next cold front moves in. I spotted this beautiful Blue Jay flying around from branch to branch and then down to the ground searching for something, acorns, bugs, worms...anything to fill his desire for food..

And it made me think, how often as humans do we search here and there for something. Something that we think will make us happy, something we desire to fill that empty spot in our lives. Just like this Blue Jay we search in the darkness (of sin) never looking to the light (of our Lord and Savior).

And much like this Blue Jay who stepped into the light and found food, all we need to do is step into the light of God's love and find Jesus who will fill our every need.

Have you stepped into the light, do you feel the warmth and love of God's sunshine around you.

I pray you have a wonderful Sunday and week ahead filled with the warmth of God's love.

Welcome to a new round of Macro Flowers Saturday, it's been awhile since we have had flowers in bloom around here, LOL, but Spring is a coming..one day soon I hope.
Today I do have a few pictures of my surprise flower...let me explain, I am not a house flower person..oh I love them but for some reason they don't love me and usually die soon after I buy one and bring it in the house..sigh, so of course when my DIL's mom gave me an Orchid for Christmas 2 yrs ago I enjoyed it till the flowers died and put it in my kitchen window where it has sit unproductive ever since...so can you imagine my surprise Tuesday when I went to wipe out my window and noticed this...
Excuse the dirty window, haven't been able in this cold to wash the outside of it..man does it need cleaning, but as I said Spring is a coming.

I was sooo excited, I had to grab my camera and get proof that I can keep a flower alive long enough to at least bud out, my Momma would be so proud. Now folks there was a lady who could make anything grow she had a green thumb that was go green it was almost black..wish I'd took after her.

Last week I told you about ChiChi trying to sneak a bone in the house and hiding (burying) it in her bed. LOL, she is so bad and funny. Well this week she's still at it. My little girl hates bad weather, she will walk or creep from room to room looking for a safe place to hide. I know when bad weather is coming before the TV weatherman does.
Last Wedsnday we had some really bad weather move in and I had to laugh at my little girl, she walked and hunted a spot for about an hour before it even looked bad outside ..

In this shot she was trying to hide between HER heat, and the Dresser

yes we have central heat but she loved to lay in from of this wall heater so DH turns it on low for her. Can we say spoiled?

Well she moved from place to place and I got busy cooking supper, when I heard DH say, "ChiChi get out of there, go get in your bed" so I grabed my camera and went to see where she was this time..Can you see her?

She had crawled behind an old picnic basket DH uses to store some of his shell loading equitment and was on the bottom shelf of his book shelf. She is so silly...

Here she is after DH made her move and get in her bed..you can see how scared she is by looking in those pitifully sad eyes..."Do I got to?"

oh well, I'll just curl up and go to sleep.

She later hid under my bed and stayed there all night. My little girl does not like bad weather.

We had a small ice storm Friday, not as bad as we have had before but bad enough to shut everything down..the bridges and roads froze over, The Stack area of I-55 in Jackson, was turned into a large parking lot. So thankful I wasn't up there. Some folks were stuck there for over 6 hrs...I know some of you who read this will say.."so what, we have had alot worse than that"... but, Hey this is the south folks, we aren't used to this and certainly not prepared for it.

As I was pondering what Simple Pleasure to show today, I realized my life is filled with Simple Pleasures. I find I enjoy all the simple things, maybe because I am just a simple person, I enjoy what life has to offer. I enjoy the little things. I don't need a big night out on the town, or a big elaborate party with tons of people or even all the luxuries money can buy to make me happy.
All I need is a smile from my friends, a few minutes watching the birds or squirrels or simply watching my grands play and laugh...oh how wonderful the sound of a child laughing is.

Today my simple pleasure is about time spent with my Sister, I love my big Sister

Me and Dean ages 6 and 8

we have traveled the road of life together for over 67 yrs. We are not only sisters, but best Friends and have always been each other's shoulder to cry on when needed. We grew up in a small town, married home town boys and raised our families all within 10 miles of each other. It has been wonderful having her in my life constantly. Knowing if I needed her all I had to do is pick up the phone and she will be there in less than 10 mins. I am truly blessed and I know it.

My simple pleasure is going to different places with her and just enjoying each other company...

Whether it is junkin' in a small town like Clinton

or going to the Natchez Pilgrimage...

We are just happy to be together..and enjoy these simple moments.

This evening I walked into the living room and saw ChiChi setting with the pillow of her dog bed over her and she was just working away trying to cover herself up with it. She'd scratch at the pillow like she would a pile of dirt. I kept watching her and grabbed my camera. I wanted to see what she was doing. When she saw me she stopped and tried to look like she wasn't doing anything...

Don't you just love that deer in the head light look?

What? I'm not doing anything...

See nothing on this side either....

You see it? She had a bone she was trying to "bury" in her bed..silly Dog, she has scratched her bed for 15 mins...and still hasn't dug a hole to bury it yet.

"See it's gone, can't see it can you?"...lol..as soon as I turned my back and put the camera down she hid the bone under my couch. HD was so mean to her, he got it and throw it to Levi...poor sweetie, her bone was gone. But that was for the best, she doesn't have enough teeth left to chew it... any ways she stole it from Levi to start with. When I let her out to use the bath room, she slipped it in the house with her.

Blue Monday

This week end, I have been feeling a little blue, I know I'm being silly but I watched my boys grow up so fast or it seemed to me to be so fast and even though I miss the little boys they used to be, I am so proud of the Young men they have become..

But now it seems my Grands are growing up at an alarming speed, it seems like just yesterday they were little and now I can't believe how big they have become..my Keiferman is a grown man working full time and going to school, planning a wedding in 2 years..wow, were has the time gone, Connor is now 13, Rissa 1o going on 20 and MooMoo is 9 going on full grown.

I made some before and after shots and since they are wearing blues, and because it makes me so BLUE to see how fast they are growing

I decided to post them on Blue Monday...

When they were all around 2 yrs old...

These were all taken this Christmas..

Texture

For my texture I used a picture that I took last summer of King's Tavern in Natchez, MS and added a crinkle paper texture to make it look like a crumbled up old photo...I like the look I got...Legend has it that this old Road house, built in the mid 1700's, is haunted, I had to smile when I saw the small orb floating at the top of this picture... wonder who was watching me...:-)

Fog

I snapped this picture outside my bedroom window over looking the pasture early one morning last week, it is not unusual for us to have fog around here the way the weather changes from cold to hot, hot to cold..I thought it looked a little eerie...

Buttons

I keep this jar of old buttons in my paint/sewing room on a shelf just in case I need a button for anything...

Beverage

My drink of choice is the diet green tea, I just love it...

70's

I really thought about this and just kept coming up blank until my Grandson asked me how old ChiChi was, I told him 11 yrs old and he said "boy she's old, in dog years she is 77". Bingo..I knew what I was going to use. My Baby is getting on up in age. She is getting slower and sleeps longer everyday. Her hips and back were broken so bad when she was hit by the car 10 yrs ago that she can't get out of her bed in the mornings during the cooler weather and loves laying in front of her own private heater.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday that I decided to walk around my yard and was rewarded with alot of new growth winding their way up ward...
This bunch of Jonquils have been coming up in my back yard for over 40 yrs. I did not set them out. We believe there was an old house place where our home is now or close by years ago and these were planted then. I look forward to seeing them every Spring...
I also captured this little bird setting on the handles of our 4 wheeler..I imagine him saying "hey lets go for a Ride...

My simple pleasure this week is a very simple but up lifting experience and a joy to me. My Baby (youngest) Granddaughter

recieved and Iphone for Christmas..I know she is only 9, but Santa deemed her old enough..

Anyhow, she is only allowed to use it when her mother oks it and she is not allowed to take it to school. She has so many minutes to text and when they are gone each month she can't use it till next month. So can you imagine the love I felt when I was told she wanted to use her minutes to text me instead of her friends..

I recieve this message every night. Sweet simple and to the point..what a sweet simple pleasure this is to look forward to every night.

I hope all of your Simple Pleasures bring you the joy this sweet simple pleasure brings me.

This year for Christmas my 3 sons decided it was time for their Mom and Dad to come into the 21st Century...lol, I loved my old TV but they decided we needed a bigger one and a new surround sound and HD DVD Direct TV reciever, so for Christmas they went together and bought us a Sony 46" flat screen and Sony Blue Ray sourround sound system, I must admit I love it and really enjoy watching DVDs. Our old surround sound system was ok, but the DVD player no longer worked.

This is what my wall and TV looked like before Sat when they all gathered at my house to up date us. Must admit it is kinda cluttered.

the after look, this spring we plan to have new flooring put down, I think the hardwood floors will look great. Also the border around the top of the room has to go and I hope to repaint the room a different color..DH thinks white or tan are the only colors on the color wheel...

They wanted me to get rid of the cabinet, but that ain't happening, DH built this for me 35 yrs ago and I just love it. The DVD surround sound is inside the top door.

The tv in the first picture was a Christmas present from Baby Boy last year and it was suppose to be put in the bedroom, but the one in the living room bite the dust so we used it in there. It will now be used as a computer screen for DH.

My sweet Grandson came to visit this week, after a little while we missed him, this is where I found him....lol..sweet memories of when his Dad was a boy and slept in this bed room.

For the last couple of nights the moon has been just beautiful, I can't seem to get a good picture of it, but...I love the way the tree limbs are silhouetted in the moon light

This is an old door to a store that is being remodeled in McComb, MS, I don't know why I was drawn to it, but the phrase that came to mind was "DOOR TO THE PAST"

This shot was taken the week before Christmas but the reflections are just perfect, the Lake almost looks like glass...

Silver..

The Silver Belles of Clear Branch Baptist Church...4 0f these lovely ladies are 76 and older..the lady in the middle in black is the baby, she is 66. The lady 2d from the right just celebrated her 90th birthday. The lady 2d from the left is 76, just finished painting the outside of her house, a beautiful old farm house, by herself, up on a ladder and all..wow, she is my hero. The lady next to her on the right is a newly wed of 1 yr. I am honored to be a part of this group of amazing ladies. I just hope when I reach their age I still have their get up and go.

It was extremely cold today and even though I am 100% improved, I still didn't want to get out and run the risk of getting sick again so I just did a little bird watching from my front window..here are a few shots I really liked...This first little guy landed on the water bowl and was drinking when he suddenly turned and just stared at me..like he was saying.............

I enjoyed watching these guys argue like a bunch of kids over who was going to have the best seat in the house...They are such fat little fellers, I can tell they love my bird seed...lol..Hope your day is filled with the joy of watching God's Creatures enjoying his bounty.

To me simple pleasures are capturing images on my camera, images of a time gone by or a time slowing fading away. As I travel south on I-55 From Brookhaven to McComb I always pass this old abandoned home, it has been there for as long as I can remember, it sets very close to the interstate and has a fence around it to keep folks from the highway from tresspassing. I have long been attracted to the way they repaired it as it slowly started decaying, notice the big metal advertising signs...I know that at one time it had to be someone's home, a time before the interstate came through and pushed it's family out. Notice the curtains still in the windows.

Tues when I went to the Dr I finally pulled over ( not a smart thing to do on the interstate ) and took a few pictures. It was such a dreary day and everything was so drab that in the last picture I was surprised to see the red berries making the picture all pretty and bright...

Hope all your little pleasures are simple ones..

Show and Tail Tuesday

It's time for Show and Tail Tuesday over at Angela's place West Virgina Treasures come by and check her out.

Well it seems I've still not able to get out and around so I have gone back to about 8 mos ago when DH and I took a trip to Kentucky for a week. We went to several great places that we really enjoyed and one was the Shaker Village in Pleasantville.

We really enjoyed walking around and checking out everything, then we spied this guy and decided to follow him...

We followed him and we saw this building, isn't the grounds so neat and clean, wish our garden looked like this....

Awww look what we found inside that big old barn...

aren't they beautiful, they were waiting for dinner and to be hooked up to take the visiting folks on a wagon ride...

As we wondered through the town we later saw the horses and wagon on it's daily rounds...we were coming out of the broom building when we saw this

We watched him slowly go down the street and wondered where he would wind up, we didn't see them again, because it was time to leave and so we said farewell to the beautiful little town and headed back to Harrodsburg for the night.

I loved the way the sun glimmered on my Granddaughters hair...the sun was very bright that day.

My granddaughters loved the Statue of the Soldier and Baby Girl made the remark he would protect them, so I merged 1/2 the statue behind them.. I think it looks pretty cool.

I recieved this e-mail from a friend this morning and couldn't help but laugh a little, but oh how true it is, especially at the time I'm at right now...lol..and just wanted to share while I wait for my breathing treatment..

HOW TRUE IT IS

Another year has passed

And we're all a little older.

Last summer felt hotter

And winter seems much colder.

I rack my brain for happy thoughts,

To put down on my pad,

But lots of things, That come to mind

Just make me kind of sad.

There was a time not long ago

When life was quite a blast.

Now I fully understand

About 'Living in the Past'.

We used to go to friends homes,

Baseball games and lunches.

Now we go to therapy, to hospitals,

And after-funeral brunches.

We used to have hangovers,

From parties that were gay.

Now we suffer body aches

And sleep the night away.

We used to go out dining,

And couldn't get our fill.

Now we ask for doggie bags,

Come home and take a pill.

We used to travel often

To places near and far.

Now we get backaches

From riding in the car.

We used to go out shopping

For new clothing at the Mall

But, now we never bother...

All the sizes are too small.

That, my friend is how life is,

And now my tale is told.

So, enjoy each day and live it up...

Before you're too damn old!!

LOL, I've always heard it said just wait till the Golden years to enjoy your life, well friends I'm here to tell you the Golden years ain't for Sissies...so enjoy your life while you live it, don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today, love your family and spend as much time going and doing with them as possible. I will never regret the times I went with my kids and my Grands even when I didn't feel like it or thought I had more important things to do, like clean that cabinet or mop the floor, it will be there tomorrow the family is not promised.

Ok enough moodiness for one day.

As most of my blogger friends know I have been under the weather lately. I really appricate the sweet emails and comments of concern from you. I had a bout of Bronchitis in Dec with staph in my eye, pushed myself to get well for the Holidays, then the first of this year I took, the crud or so I thought, turns out I had Pneumonia and as much as I've tried to push and keep going I'm afraid it has put me down, after the outing with my girls last Monday it turned even worse. Since last Thurs. I have been back to Dr 5 times and had 5 very large shots, many scoldings and threats of Hospitalization. Tues we changed Drs in same Clinic, just different Dr and he changed everything the other Dr was doing. He has really got me feeling better, he started me on breathing treatments and as he called it a "kick butt" antibiotics just for pneumonia, Tuesday I was so very sick, but he let me beg off from going to hospital and do my treatments at home. We have the machine at home because of DH's asthma. When I returned today he was very please, he said he just knew when I left there Tues he would be putting me in the Hospital when I returned today and taping my lungs to get the fluid off, but today, though not well by along shot I am better and the air was moving through my lungs. I still have to stay in bed for another week at least, we will know more when I return, once again to see him Tues. Hummmmmm really need to just get a bed in the clinic, cause I done bought a room by now...lol...

she got a an Iphone for Christmas and every night at 8:30 she texts me a simple little message "goodnight Granny. PS I love you."

But dear Friends I am now very tired and going to go take my breathing treatment and head to bed. Will try to visit around some tomorrow. Please keep me in your prayers, I am so very tired but know God will get me through this, I just have to have faith and keep pushing on.

Hey y'all I'm back to posting on Shadow Shot Sunday, click here to check out of SSS pictures, today my shot is of Levi, my Lab, sitting outside my patio window watching Chi Chi's food bowl, doesn't it looks like the bowls are sitting in front of him, but their not they are inside and reflecting on the window. If you look close on the window you will see where Levi has been licking it trying to get to the food...lol..poor baby does like to eat. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence in this case the window.

The shadows were extremely strong this morning...

I am feeling a little bit better, have to sit up a little while each day, took another shot today and he threatened me with the Hospital again.

Well my sweet blogger friends, I finally broke down and went to the Dr again, he did the works: Xrays, blood test, flu test, nasal swab, everything. I am now in bed, on threat of being sent to Hospital if I don't mind and do what I'm told. I have a very bad case of Pneumonia...ugh... SOOOO, I'm a keeping my behind in bed, thank the Lord for laptops or I'd go slowly out of my mind.
If I don't make it around to read your blog, please for give me and still come by..I will catch up as soon as I'm able..till I return I'll leave you with a couple of my favorite creatures that God has sent to brighten my day...

A day in the life of...A Granny and her flock...

This past Sunday, Middle Boy brought Baby Girl down from Richland to stay with me until Tuesday night, they had to go back to work and she didn't have to go to school until Weds. Since MooMoo didn't have to go back to school till Tues morning she came and spend the night and all day Monday with us. Even though I didn't feel the best, wasn't really sick at the time just felt yucky, I wasn't going to disappoint my girls so Monday morning we went junkin' they both love it so. When we left home I mainly wanted to go to Wilson's meat market in Crystal Springs for a meat supply for my deep freezer.

But being the "sweet kind loving" Granny that I am...lol..we stop in Wesson at a junk store...the girls hit the jackpot..can we say 14 Barbies for less than $10.00. Some with clothes, some without. Needless to say they were 2 happy campers. Their folks not so much, they informed me they had to stay at my house cause they both had toooo many Barbies already, so I now have a large box of Barbies in my bedroom waiting for 2 little girls to come play.

while in Wesson, one lady was cleaning up her booth and came over and asked the girls if they would like a badminton set for free, she was going to throw it away ..it was in a new container never opened so ok they jumped on it and spent hours that evening when we got home playing with it.

anyways I got off track, so we finished our junkin trip not finding anything else and headed to Wilson's. I just want to tell you if you hear anyone say there is a BIG pig on Highway 51 near Crystal Spring, MS they are right we got a picture to prove it...lol..the girls had to have their picture made in front of it...

lol, it is huge, and the girls just loved it..of course it's been there for years but it was new to the girls and they had to check it out..can you tell Baby Girl doesn't like to have her picture made...

On our way back we stopped at the Court House in Hazelhurst and took some pictures, I wanted to get more of the court house itself, but when you have 2 little girls wanting to get home and play with their dolls you don't all ways get to do want you want...lol..

I have always loved the looks of this CH, the matching Magnolia trees on each side, the tall columns across the front...the stately Confederate solder standing guard...and they even still have their Christmas wreaths up...

Isn't he a handsome young man?...

Ok, that's it Baby Girl is through taking pictures and is running for the car..better go.

After playing Badminton and Barbies all evening Baby Girl honored us with a violin concert..on her knees no less......of course we were suppose to listen to her from the other room, she didn't want us watching her..it makes her nerves..sigh..poor sweetie is so shy. She didn't see me sneak in and take a picture around the corner of the door..I'm so bad..Bwahahaha

We had a very enjoyable but tiring day, I sure missed MooMoo when she left that night and Baby Girl went home Tues evening late. I can't wait till we can spend some more time together and enjoy each other company again.

Mid-week crisis & God's Beauty

Well blogger friends it looks like MS weather has struck again..hot one day cold the next, no sorry..should be mornings cold by lunch hot.. just don't know how to dress or what to do.. Seems I've got the bronchitis again. This is the 4th time since Oct and I believe this is the worst I've had it so far.
Can't breath, chest hurts, head stopped up, crouping and having chills and fever.
I am going to stay in bed and take my meds...AGAIN... I am posting a few pictures I took outside my window this morning.
Even when we are down God sends his beauty to lift us up, how sad and cold it would be in this bed if my little feathered friends didn't come around to brighten my day...

Could anyone tell me what kind of Bird this is? Isn't he beautiful..the browns and grays are so perfectly matched...and he is so small about the size of the little brown Finches..this is the only one I've seen so far.

Oh no he didn't...Yes he did, he is so bad, my Levi loves to eat more than any dog I've ever seen, this little garbage disposal will let nothing go to waste. Last week I had some cornbread left over and was going to crumble it up for the birds, they just love cornbread or crackers...well, when I walked outside with the cornbread, Levi turned into the dancing bear and knocked the bread out of my hands...no way was the birds going to get his food...

He's looking at me, like no you not getting my cornbread..I mean you can look at him and tell we just starve him too death...yea right..the Vet has already told us he needs to be on a diet..well that ain't happening...lol..

He's gonna eat it whole to keep me from taking it away from him, poor birds they just sit in the trees and watched...

He even licked up the crumbs to keep the birds from getting anything.

He's such a big baby..but I still love him, even if he is our bad child that tries to eat everything in the house...

Project 365

It has been so cloudy and rainy here in Central MS, that I haven't had a picture to show, but this morning the sun was shining and the weather is a little chilly but beautiful. On my way home from Church this morning I past an old barn and noticed the calves where in a pen with their Moms so I decided to stop and grab a few pictures...hoping to get some good shadow shots..I got a few, but not too many.....

well one Mom was being over protective..when I started snapping pictures of her and her little one she came to the fence and shielded her little one from me..

It's like she was saying, "back off and leave us alone"...in the background you can see another Mother and her calf..

I realize there is nothing as strong as a Mother's Love, there is no love to replace it...except the love of our Lord and savior for his Children.

We were giving a list of 25 different prompts to use to find a picture and write something about each...now with as many photos as I have this was extremely hard for me to do cause so many pictures could fit anyone of the prompts...I hope you enjoy and be sure and check out all of the folks who have joined in...I. This was taken Oct the 19th on my 67th Birthday...I am so proud of having lost 55 lbs in just 7 months. I still have some more to lose but I've never felt this good in along time..

2. I love you, picture of some one I love

Well, everyone who follows my blog or who knows me, knows there was no secret to who I would choose, my Family, they are my life and my world. My DH, My beautiful 3 sons and there families and my oldest Grandson, who is more like my 4th son than my 1st Grand and his lovely lady who will soon be my first granddaughter-in-law...
3. Still laughing..a moment you still laugh about..

This was taken in Jan. during our first snow of the year, my MooMoo and Redman can over to visit, they decided to build a snowman and every time Redman would nearly get it built MooMoo would start throwing snowballs at him and mess it up, this time she ran around the house and was going to start throwing more at him when the one she threw went wild and hit the limb above her head and knocked all the snow right down on her..you can see it on her head....it went all down the back of her coat and down her neck...she got so mad she went inside and sit down..we still LOL and tells her she had it coming.

This picture is of my sweet Baby Girl celebrating her 10th Birthday at Chuck'E' Cheese with her cousin MooMoo on the left and her best friend on the right..she of course is the little ham in the middle...lol..

This is a picture made in Nov with a dear childhood friend who now lives in Texas, she was home to visit her Mom and called me and want to meet and eat..we were the best of friends from 1st grade until we both married in the 60's and she moved back to her husband's home in Granberry, Texas, this is the first time in 45 yrs I've seen her, we reconnected on Face Book 2 yrs ago. Sadly she lost her hubby in Aug. You can see we didn't call her "Lil Bit" for nothing.

7. I was Inspired..could be a picture of your inspiration,(person or thing, or inspired by)

This one just had to be a collage, My sweet Grandchildren inspired me when they both, at different times of course asked to be Baptised, how wonderful..what a day of rejoicing this was for us.

This past June DH and I took a weeks trip to Kentucky to the Fort Harrod reenactment, then made a stop at the Quaker Village. But on the way up we made a side trip to Hurricane Mills, TN. to visit the home of Loretta Lynn...

This is one of my most favorite pictures from 2010, DH and I went to Fort Harrod, Kentucky for the re-enactment and these beautiful children were taking part..aren't they just beautiful

my beautiful Sister who is so full of life and loves to travel and take day trips and go junking any time I call, I don't want her to ever change.

this is a collage of 8 children from the same family that were re-enactors at Fort Harrod in June. They looked like they had walked out of the old Fort Harrod Cemetery..they were that true to the era. There was 1 more child, a baby of 6 mos. but I didn't get any pictures of him, because he was a sleep in the tent.

Hello, I'm ChiChi....Momma and I

Just wanted to drop by and wish everyone a very Happy New Year...as another year comes to a close, We have to stop and reflect on that year. We have had some good times, some hard times, sad times, times when Mom was angry, and times she laughed long and loud. She always says All things happen in God's timing. Take what God gives you and make it be something good for him, He promised he would take care of our needs, NOT our wants.

What do you plan to do tonight to welcome in a new year and a new start? Do you have a big bash planned with Family and or friends? Or will you be celebrating a quite evening with the ones you love?

Mom and I plan on having a wonderful night sipping, well she and papa will, Hot Chocolate in front of the fire. Mom says I can't have any....something about Chocolate not being good for me...Sigh...and it smells so good.

Then we will turn in early so we can get up and cook the traditional New Year's Day Dinner, cabbage..blah, blacked eyed peas, fried pork chops...yummmm, wonder if she will give me any of this? (Probably not). Corn bread and sweet tea and for dessert Peach Cobbler. Humans have it made, Me I'll probably have my same ole can dog food. When are they going to realize I'm NOT a Dog, I'm just a 4 legged kid.

We will miss our Family, but they will not be able to make it down, something about Baby Boy being on call. and Middle boy wanting to stay home and not drive down in the New Year's traffic..silly drunks on the road take all the fun away. I'll miss Baby Girl, she loves to play with me, but MooMoo will be here, I have to hide from her, she likes to tote me around like a Doll, really I'm more dignified than that.

OK, I'm going back to sleep to rest up for the night ahead and MooMoo tomorrow.

..Lord, life is so hard..
